As soon as Sara did start to ask him about more details about his major, Sou’s whole attitude seemed to change. His eyes seemed more clear and his body language was more open. Not that he noticed the changes in his behavior that happened as soon as the topic of something he felt really passionate about came up. 

“Oh, I don’t want to bore you with details. It has a lot to do with math as well, so it’s not for everyone. To put it simply though, it’s the study of processes that are used when you interact with data, and also what can be represented as data in the form of programs. A lot of math and programming involved, really. One of the most important parts to study is the programming language, so it’s really more about the software, rather than the hardware of a computer..” He could go on more and more about it, but the more he would tell her about it, the more he would also reveal about his true self, wouldn’t he? Which as a hacker, wasn’t really beneficial to him.  

“Ah, sorry. I went off there…” His excited self only lasted for a very brief moment, and as soon as he adjusted his beanie once more, his aloof self was back. “What about you? I can imagine what psychology’s all about, but, are you enjoying yourself so far?” He imagined that topic to get a little troublesome with time- The human mind could be rather bothersome after all… But, he was more a man about numbers and logic, rather than about emotions and other social topics anyway.

Sara didn’t feel particularly bored as Sou spoke about his computer science-- She wasn’t expecting him to say as much as he did given his introduction to her, but nonetheless, she wasn’t going to interrupt him as he spoke. It was interesting, that much was certain. Sara didn’t have experience with it herself, but she could believe it involved plenty of math. Psychology countered computer science in many aspects, but in a way, they also held some parallels.

“I see. You don’t have to apologize. The study of processes.. There’s similar in psychology. We don’t look at computers or their software, but.. There’s the speech of the brain. Does that make sense?” Well, it did to her.

“Psychology, huh. That’s surprising…” Well that was a lie, it was not that surprising. She seemed very observant and witty. It did suit her from what he did see from her until now. However, there probably was no reason to hide his major to her, so he decided to just tell her: 

“…I’m a third year and into computer science. I know what you’re probably thinking, but it’s more interesting than it sounds, really.” At least to him. As a hacker, he was very interested in most technology related stuff. 

It just came to his mind, that it maybe was weird to ask the major of someone, before even knowing their name. So he decided to introduce himself: “I’m Sou Hiyori, by the way. I know I’m your upperclassman, but no need to be too formal, just call me Sou.” It’s not like it was his real name anyway after all. “What about you, miss?”

She would take offense that she didn’t look like a psychology major, but then again, what did a psychology major actually look like? Still.. In that regard, computer science came off as an initial stretch. There wasn’t a point in lying about that, right?

“I’ll cut the formalities, then. It’s nice to meet you. My name is Sara Chidouin.” With that, she extended out a hand to shake as a proper greeting. Sure, they had been having a little bit of a fight earlier. However, neither of them seemed to be too upset over the whole ordeal.

She accepted his invitation without a second thought, that was great! He’d hate it if she tried to state all she had to get done, which would make him feel a bit guilty. 

“I’ll think about it as we go over there, but not plain cheese.” Since he worked there, he knew practically all the ingredients and different pizza styles by heart. You’d think he’d be sick of pizza, but that’s not true. “What are you thinking of? We could always do half my toppings and the other half yours? Unless you want a whole pizza to yourself!”

She couldn’t help and laugh at his comment: “A whole pizza? I’m not that hungry, Joe.” It really was in his nature to look out for his friends-- That was always a trait Sara couldn’t help and admire about him. She really did feel lucky to have someone like him around. “I was thinking of something simple.. Maybe some olives?”

   “Huh, what a cutting remark… Ahaha. Guess I deserved that one, huh? You seem to have some backbone! That’s a good thing to have as a newbie, you know?” He wished he would have been more like that, back when he freshly arrived here a few years ago. Though, that’s the past now. 

   “Art major…? Me? Haha, no.” He denied her assumption, before he fixed his beanie a little. “Since we’re not in kindergarten, I don’t need to start a doodle contest with you, do I know, miss? I leave the doodling entirely to you!” Maybe he was too harsh to thenew girl, but it was somehow amusing… Especially because she was brave enough to bite back. 

   “What about your major, though? It better not be art, or else I would have criticized an artist trainee already, right?.” A soft chuckle left him. Was asking her for her major before revealing his own impolite? Maybe- however, he always was someone who tried to gather information first, before revealing some of his own. 

She didn’t always make witty remarks, especially not at people she just met. However, there was always a time and a place for comments. If someone greeted her with such, she wasn’t ready to let herself get all walked over by not saying anything back.

“I see. T-Thanks, then.” Her words were coated with sarcasm, but there was no point in continuing on the topic. Sara could only come to the assumption that he wasn’t much of an artist, himself. It was fair to think this given he wouldn’t even at least do any sort of attempts.

This was one of Sara’s first times in the school’s computer lab. She had done most of her written work in her own room, for the general part. This time, she wanted to try changing her pace and writing an upcoming research paper in a new environment. She sat down at one of the few open computers, pressing the start button as she stared at the screen. Lightly tapping her finger on the mouse as she waited for it to boot, nothing was happening. It wasn’t turning on.

Turning to the person next to her, she lightly cleared her throat before speaking. Worst case scenario, she supposed she could go back to her room. Still, there had to be some way to turn it on. Perhaps she wasn’t pressing the right thing?

The library held a nice environment-- Relaxing, quiet, and a good place to study. That, and she wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to read a nice book in her spare time. As she walked through the aisles, she couldn’t help and notice one of them in disarray. There were books on the floor and the ones on the shelf were out of order. As she bent down to begin picking them up, Sara noticed another student coming within her vision.

Oddly enough, the section in question was on books about cooking. She couldn’t help and wonder what might have happened.

   As a third year, it wasn’t the first time that Sou met newcomers in Blackwood. Especially in their first weeks, they’re really nervous and clumsy. Maybe that was also the reason why some girl that just passed by, did lose one paper from the pile that she was carrying around: 

   “Excuse me, miss- but it seems like you’ve dropped something.” When handing the stranger the paper back, he couldn’t hold back a soft chuckle anymore. Then of course he was nosy enough to look at it, before giving it back to her. 

   “What a cute doodle you put on your notepaper there, you sure you didn’t get lost? Because I’m pretty sure the kindergarten lays in the opposite direction.”

Adapting to Blackwood certainly would take some time, but Sara saw it in herself to adapt slowly but surely. Change was never an easy thing. She considered herself studious, but she did decorate the top of each paper’s notes before class began. It was a little way to help her remember the material (or rather, a way to pass the time before class actually began).

Embarrassingly, the boy handed her one of those papers as it flew out of her grasp. She pouted at his remark, clutching it closer to her chest upon its retrieval. “Ah.. Actually, you were already walking in the right direction for that.” Maybe her artistic abilities weren’t superior compared to an art major, but they weren’t horrific.

“Sara!” The boy yelled at a high enough volume that caused many to stare in confusion. As she turned around, his pace quickly picked up to match her. It seemed like Sara was always busy as of late, so he didn’t have too many opportunities to find her around campus like this. 

“Are you hungry? We could go get some pizza together!” Yeah, he’s the type of guy that would go to his job for food when he isn’t scheduled to work. 

The voice and way in which her name was spoken was a good indicator that it was Joe. Maneuvering herself to face him, she nodded her head. It’s true that she had been tied up with activities and work lately, but she’d always make time for Joe.
