I saw this post the other day saying how Sera's way of getting Conan to admit his true identity in chapter 1025 is without tactics (no offense). In contrast, Eisuke is the real tactical genius in getting the truth out of Conan.

Someone then responded by saying Sera is unsuccessful in her attempt because she is forgetting the non-negotiable truth:

Lol I love it. It's so true! So how do you get the truth out of Conan? Or get him to let his guard down? Well, here're a few things you can try:

1. Tell him you want to confess your feelings to Ran. - chapter 621

2. Tell him you want to bring Ran abroad or somewhere that's away from him. - chapter 621

3. Tell him you will tell Ran everything, specifically his hidden identity. - chapter 121

4. Simply use Ran's voice. - chapter 955

5. Get Ran to tell him something you want him to know or somewhere you want him to be, so he takes action before he even asks why he does it. - chapter 1094

I remember Heiji says to Conan something along the lines of, "You won't come if she doesn't", but I can't find the source. Did he actually say that? I asked Google AI, and it gave me this:

"Heiji understands that for most invitations to be accepted, Ran and her father must be included. Essentially, Heiji leverages Ran's relationship with Shinichi to bring his fellow detective to a crime scene."

If he didn't actually say that, it could very well be implied somewhere in the manga or movies, I suppose. In any case, I honestly think Sera will need to follow this principle rule or "guidance" if she wants to get that antidote from Conan. lol

Aoyama-sensei said Ran is Conan's weakness (Cut Magazine 2019), but I think this weakness can ultimately become a powerful form of strength because he is unstoppable when it comes to Ran.

this is a great but tough question i realised idk how to answer it 😭 i literally talk about my favorite shinran moments and stuff ALL THE TIME on this blog.

anyway these i selected are not necessary “moments” but i really like these aspects of their relationship so i hope it’s good enough for an answer 🫡 (also i’m well aware of how most of these are from shinichi’s point of view but i just love how he loves her, i can’t help it)

These postcards were from the Detective Conan special event held at Lagunasia theme park in 2019. I know it’s old, but I really love the message Shinichi wrote to Ran because he very rarely expresses his love for Ran in words.

At the event, there were life-size cutouts of Shinichi and Ran with cute dialogues, and they were in the same outfits as when Shinichi confessed to Ran in London!

Ran: "A romantic spot where you can see beautiful flowers...I asked Shinichi to come, and I hope we can enjoy it together...If he goes off and say there's another incident, I won't forgive him!"

Shinichi: "Speaking of flowers...When I first met Ran, it was the beautiful cherry blossom season...There's always been some kind of incident, but maybe doing this will make her feel better..."

In Gosho Aoyama 30th Anniversary Book, it is revealed that Aoyama-sensei’s favorite chapter is Shinichi BOY Part 1. It’s so overwhelmingly significant that the book includes the draft of this chapter with Aoyama-sensei’s added comments to each page, so the readers can enjoy it like a guided tour.

My favorite is the comment for the scene when Ran gave Shinichi the sakura badge she made and said, “I’m not a crybaby! Don’t call me a crybaby again!”

Aoyama-sensei added that in this particular moment, Shinichi was thinking, “But why are you angry? You're this cute.”

He also added that it was funny how Shinichi was suddenly rude to the teacher the moment he became attracted to Ran.

I really like Shinichi’s sudden change in demeanor though. He was real quick in seeing the teacher as a threat and giving him an attitude. It’s like the moment he fell for Ran he knew right away that he’s going to be the one to guard her. Ran’s safety has always been his top priority.

It’s also obvious that just moments before, Shinichi was still arguing with Ran on the matter of whether she cried or not, but after his heart skipped a beat, he could only gaze with awe. He was clearly struck by Ran’s cuteness.

Like Aoyama-sensei said here, “Our Shinichi is actually deeply struck by feelings of affection for Ran, so please disregard his cheeky attitude. (laughs)”

Here're a few more notable comments by Aoyama-sensei on the chapter.

Aoyama: This is the part I wanted to draw the most! The best page in 30 years is here. “Don't panic, act high and mighty like Holmes.” That's the core and fundamentals of Shinichi's character. But the line was cut in the anime! I sent a message to the director, “Please don't cut it. That part is very important!”

(But the director still cut the line...)

Aoyama: Ah, this is also a scene I really wanted to draw. The exchange of “You cried!” and “I didn't cry!!” It wasn’t drawn in a flow at all. I just added this scene I wanted to draw (laughs). The two white boxes in the middle were copies of the same scene from Ran GIRL, so I didn't draw them again.

Aoyama: Ran is happy to hear “Thank you,” smiling and saying, “Here, it’s done!!” But we can’t see her expression. We don’t get to see it in Ran GIRL either. We’ll only see it at the end of Shinichi BOY Part 2. It's that smile that made Shinichi fall for her.
