BIOGRAPHY
Seven years ago, Jemma Adair was lying in the back of a looted pharmacy, barely conscious and bleeding out. She’d been on the run after a violent ambush that left her fiancé dead—killed by desperate raiders during a failed supply run. The injury she sustained was severe: a deep laceration starting from her right side, cutting across her lower back to her left hip. Alone, grieving, and overwhelmed by infection, she collapsed and waited to die. She would have—if Harlan Creed hadn’t found her.
He was out on a scouting run when he found Jemma, half-conscious and delirious with fever. Something about her refusal to die—despite the odds—stood out, showing how stubborn she truly was. He carried her back through dangerous ground to the gates of Domus Spei. The medics there worked tirelessly to stabilize her. It took weeks, but Jemma recovered. Quiet and withdrawn at first, she kept to herself, mourning a life lost—but slowly, steadily, she began to return to the world.
Before the world ended, Jemma had been in her third year of medical school, training to become an ER doctor. That knowledge didn’t disappear with the fall of civilization—it adapted. Once she regained her strength, she joined the medical team at Domus Spei with quiet determination, using every bit of her training to meet the brutal realities of post-collapse life. In a world where sterile hospitals are long gone and medical supplies are constantly in short supply, Jemma’s steady hands, sharp instincts, and calm under pressure have saved more lives than she ever expected to.
Jemma doesn’t seek attention, and she doesn’t give empty comfort. She speaks in actions—showing up, staying late, refusing to quit when there’s still a chance to save someone. Those who’ve worked with her know that if she steps in, she will give her all. She’s also practical: she knows not everyone can be saved. But she never stops trying. She believes that survival alone isn’t enough—what matters is how you live, how you treat people, and what you choose to protect.
Her connection with Harlan began with necessity—he saved her life. But over time, that bond changed, having moved in with him as a roommate first, than over time it grew. He remained nearby during her recovery, then remained in her life long after she no longer needed him to be. Though neither wears their feelings openly, their relationship is the kind that runs deep beneath the surface. He protects the walls; she protects the people inside them. There’s no need for grand words between them—what they have is built on trust, shared history, and knowing they’d go through hell for each other without being asked.
She doesn’t pretend the world isn’t broken, but she tries to be one of the reasons it still holds together in her new home. Whether she’s cleaning wounds, setting bones, delivering hard news, or walking the fence line with a rifle she hopes she won’t have to use, Jemma does it all with quiet determination. In a world built on death and ruin, she chooses to fight for life—every single day.
