“um, i’m… sorry but i have a question,” she began when the harry styles monologue halted momentarily. her mind was turning into a whole whirlwind of thoughts and emotions, and she was barely able to string it all together into anything coherent, but there was no way she could not address it. ‘harper’ was going on like nothing had ever happened but… it was her, right? it had to be. surely it couldn’t be that much of a blur that hazel had this person confused with suzy. but how did you even begin to broach that kind of conversation? “i’m just… do we like… know each other?”

“question? hm? did you say you have a question?” harper asked, tilting her head a little with a thin, nervous smile on her lips. her eyes seemed to get wider, the nerves and butterflies that felt more like wasps starting to sting her insides. the minute harper heard hazel question harper’s identity, the brunette knew it was time for the ground to swallow her whole. if only. “do we know each other?” she repeated after the blonde, her voice now clearly showing how nervous she was. she could hear the egg shells cracking underneath her. “well, we do know each other, but maybe... maybe not like this.” harper said, her hands now being used while she spoke. “i mean, like this but... uhm?” she was stumbling so bad. her voice gave away how nervous she was and she was positive that she was starting to turn red. maybe it was time harper left big bear, maybe she should lie and say she was meant to be looking for a ‘violet’ instead of a ‘hazel’. “i’m suzy. or harper! mostly harper, harper delgado.  i was only suzy once and it was months ago.” she explained, her hands still moving. “i’m harper, by the way. good to see you again! i would say ‘nice to see meet you’ but you’ve already met me and i’m sure it’s not nice to meet me for second time especially as someone else than who i originally said i was. this usually doesn’t happen. i don’t usually see people i’ve-” she paused, not knowing what to say. “you know. yeah. i’m harper. or suzy! whichever.”

rolling up to bear necessities, hazel realized she didn’t know how she was even going to spot this mysterious harper girl whom she only barely knew by voice, not at all by face. only one thing to do – stand around awkwardly outside the store and wait to be found.

hearing the confirmation that the blonde was going to come, harper sighed in relief. “thank you! i’ll see you soon!” harper said before quickly hanging up. “step one, done.” she said to herself, thankful that hazel did agree and didn’t hang up on her. their history wasn’t the best, but to harper’s own fault considering she was the one that caused all the hurt and damage. when she received news hazel was her person, harper didn’t know if she should be relieved or nervous. would this gift help soothe things over between the two girls and allow harper to stop feeling like she’s walking on egg shells or will this gift only be a temporary remedy? 

waiting inside the store so she wouldn’t be freezing outside, harper waved frantically when she saw hazel. harper hadn’t waited long for the blonde to show up, but the anticipation was killing her and time seemed to be going by slowly. “hazel!” she called out as she walked out the store to greet her. “thanks for coming! i know we’re probably not going to find anything good here, but i thought we could at least try. i have some stuff put away in the back that i think she might like, but i’m not quite sure about them yet. and i figured it’d be best to do it back there than on the floor just in case aylie happens to come in for whatever reason.” she spoke fast, not really giving herself time to breathe in-between sentences because of the nerves hitting her. “and if she does come, then i guess i’m fucked. but hopefully she doesn’t come, though, because i’m really trying here. like, who would’ve known that harry wouldn’t come to meet a random hot ginger? and it wasn’t even harry who said he wouldn’t come. it was his dumb ass manager. and you know, i thought if harry wouldn’t come, then niall wouldn’t come. or- fuck! maybe he would’ve! i don’t know. please help me.” 

late to everything as per usual, harper was nervous to gift her grinchmas present to her giftee. with the gift wrapped with a big bow and hidden inside the store, harper quickly called her recipient. “hazel? it’s harper.” she tried to sound confident on the phone, bouncing on her feet while she made the call to hopefully help soothe her nerves that always seemed to be around when hazel was involved. “are you busy? are you working? can you meet me infront of bear necessities? i’m trying to find a last minute gift for my grinchmas person and i’m stuck and i figured you’d know more about them considering it’s aylie and you’ve known her longer than i have.” harper lied smoothly, her voice hopefully not giving anything away. “i know this is last minute since it’s already the 26th, but i’m dumb and thought i could do it, but none of my plans were happening. i tried getting her harry styles, but his dumbass manager blocked my number after saying my idea was ‘inappropriate’ and that ‘harry was a busy man’ and i should ‘lose this number’.” she explained. “i’m a dumbass for springing this up last minute, but can you please come? i’m desperate.”

hobbies: writing, pretending to be someone i’m not, reading, watching psychological thrillers, the occasional scamming, talking about social constructs and if counting is real or we’ve just been taught by society to believe so, and traveling

a few things you’d like for the holidays: learn how to properly ice skate, learn how to play the guitar, a guitar, skincare products, an over-rexaggerated self portrait or a victorian- era style self portrait, a kitten, and a nice home cooked meal
