Licking his lips, he folded his hands together before offering a small, bashful smile. “Apologies, but I just had to make sure. You know how the world goes — you think you know someone, and then they surprise you.”
He paused, his face a neutral sheet despite his frantic thoughts. Did he speak too much again? Did he let her know that even if he caught her scent, he was expecting a surprise because he wasn’t sure?
calm yourself.
Looking to Erin when she sat, Lorcan rose a brow. “Ah, so if someone wanted to see your dancing skills, they would just have to prowl the corridors, hm? Would you most likely be found near our common room or somewhere less suspicious?”
Noticing how he smiled, she almost laughed. How some people in their year didn’t like him or saw him as arrogant was simply because they probably didn’t properly even look at him. Erin gave a soft laugh, ”well, I think surprises can be excellent in other forms that don’t include forced dancing. Sometimes people surprise you for the better, even. But, don’t worry, you’re completely forgiven.”
It was nice talking with him, while she still felt the underlying form of anxiety she felt whenever she was in a place with so many people the temperature rose, it wasn’t anything unmanageable that made her feel her usual fight or flight response -- the latter which she usually gave in to. It was just Lorcan. She and Lorcan were having a conversation.
A pink blush started to rise on her face, spreading down her neck, and Erin put her head in her hands for a moment before trying to confidently face him. “A great dancer NEVER gives away her great dancing secrets. Especially if her dancing is in private and in Hogwarts corridors.” Backtrack? “I do hope you know that if you were to ever catch me dancing you would have to join, it is the law.”
