After hearing from Hanekoma, he’d been anticipating an official invitation to meet Hazuki. The feather delivery is a clever gesture of summoning, and it acts as a homing beacon to his exact location. 104, as stated. He sidles up to him, hands in his pockets, plume tucked behind his ear, and a disarming smile on his face.

“ ... He cares a lot about you. ”

Usually said with a hint of malice, it was withheld this time instead with a held in sigh. Shoulders relax and his expression no longer had that carefully practiced smile. He’d turn a little more humble perhaps for the better. Expression always felt alien to him until movement and feelings started to click. Nor did he want to keep such bravado around someone he was fond of.

He’d even lean to the side, bumping shoulders with him; seeking comfort.

“ We had a long talk. ” It was terrifying. “ I’m sorry I’ve kept you waiting. I had a lot to think about, but I shouldn’t keep you out because of it. ”

“ ... ”

“ Don’t think so lowly of me. ” Confusion to quick anger and hands having to clench tight to his pants to keep them to himself. “ I’d never make Joshua choose between here and the Higher Plane nor would I ever force him to. That was never on the table. Do you not know the things I’ve turned a blind eye too? ”

Because Joshua had so much independence and individuality. It didn’t fit in the Higher Plane’s decisive concept. Does he not think of the times he’s kept silent over their ploys? All the times he could’ve reported something and have either of them punished? He cares deeply for Joshua; his own core and canon was on the line for him.

If his individuality was important to someone then maybe it mattered. That’s what being down here was teaching him slowly by the way he starts to enjoy connection and creativity, something that never reached him in the heavens.

this  situation  was  never  going  to  have  a  simple  conclusion.  there  were  no  simple  answers  to  this.

he  tunes  himself  back  in,  his  eyes  narrowing  back  in  on  the  ring  he  wore  before  beginning  to  manually  suppress  it  back  within  the  object.

“ Problem ones – I’m not problematic. ” ‘ Im not you. ’ He was pious, eyes always looking up and diligently working in Her grand design. He couldn’t picture himself like Api with his slanted words and lucrative stunts against the heavens. .. But what they did have in common was Joshua.

❝        uh-huh….  an’  thats  why  they  feel  the  need  to  strip  you  of  yer  individuality?  they  find  you  so  trust  worthy  that  they  factory  reset  you?        ❞            okay  so  it  was  a  bit  sarcastic  but  he  needed  to  make  a  point  on  what  he  was  saying.  if  they  were  so  heavily  having  hazuki  go  through  calibration  then  there  was  obviously  something  wrong.  the  almighty  saw  something  that  they  didn’t  like  and  wanted  to  strip  it  away  from  him.  

apichisi  had  plenty  of  experience  with  that  prior  to  his  life  as  hanekoma.  hanekoma  had  a  need  to  at  least  make  the  composer  aware  of  the  situation.  he  could  take  the  insinuations.  they  were  leagues  apart  but….  there  were  small  tells  that  hazuki  was  acting  on  their  own  as  well.  the  heavens  loathed  it.  it’s  why  the  hivemind  was  integrated  so  deeply  into  their  created  and  manitory  for  the  ascended.  hazuki  didn’t  have  a  choice,  same  as  him  in  the  beginning….  but  things  change.

“ … What did you do? ” The usually solid frown of his dropped. It was … really quiet. Unsettling. He can hear the humdrum of the Shinjuku like a beat but that wasn’t the noise he was talking about. It was the hum in him that suddenly died out; venerated and always present until now. He edged a little in his seat, hands tighter as he looked uneasy at the corners of the long room. “ Wait I dont think I like this- ”

.. Ah. Well the question brought him back. … He didn’t like that either.

“ No. It wasn’t punishment. It was retraining and adjustments. I was distracted and didn’t meet some expectations… ” It was like being on autopilot; the conscious thoughts and feelings repressed to allow him to work without it in the way.
