One thing that's hard to get used to when travelling is not being able to use social networks ALL THE TIME. Ya, occasionally you have wifi, but for the most part, if you don't have a super awesome data travel plan, you only get the chance to tell your family you're alive every few days or week or so. My iPhone broke and as shitty as that was for a week it kind of didn't matter because we were in the wilderness with no service anyways. I got to actually enjoy time with my best friend and organize things old school on a paper map and not really know where we're going. It's hella cool not feeling the need to update your blog or post on Instagram or tweet and just talk complete bs over a campfire. Learn how to put down your phone when you're travelling. Look around, take time to enjoy where you are now and appreciate the company you're in. Who know when you'll have it again! I had to say ciao to the outside world and home for a bit. I'll try and keep blogging here and there but all my pictures are on my old phone so maybe they'll make it upon day 🙈

So our first day on the road! Headed from Vegas after a wild few days and went straight east on the historic highway 66. If you forget that you are on "The Historic Highway 66" there will be about 100 different signs in every small town, on every gas station, and every restaurant you pass. Our destination was Havasu falls, located 2 miles outside of Supai. Now in our heads we figured it was just a waterfall, had a few hiking trails, and we could drive straight in to the campsite. We must've missed the fine print because there was no campground on the top of this cliff face. There was only a hut with a copious amount of large, clear signs, most of them reading things such as: "YOU MUST HAVE A RESERVATION" "DO NOT ENTER PARK WITHOUT RESERVATION" "YOU NEED A RESERVATION" So at 10 o'clock at night, in the dark, we thought "whatever we can just sleep in the car and sort it out tomorrow" As we struggle to get comfortable and just start to doze in our little blue sports car, a man comes knocking on our window. Now, it's about 1 in the morning at this point. Guess what he asks. "Do you have a reservation?" We've just woken up after a very long drive (I massively underestimated saying it was maybe 4 hours - it was more like 7) and a very short nap. So proceeds a very odd, annoying conversation. "What?" "You need a reservation" "Can we sort this out tomorrow? It's 1am, we're sleeping." *pause* "Are you Mexican?" He asks as he shine a bright LED light in our faces. "No. Can you turn the light off please?" *pause* "You need a reservation." "Okay, we understand that, we'll sort it out tomorrow." "You can't just come in here without a reservation" "Okay, we'll make a reservation tomorrow" *pause* "Are you with those other Mexican girls?" "What girls? We've never been to Mexico." "You look Mexican." This went on for a good ten minutes. By the end of it we were ready to run him over. Eventually he went away though and so concludes our first night in 'Murica.

I feel like we really shouldn't feel uncomfortable about letting people know we miss them. I almost want to just tell all my friends right now that I miss and love them. Because I could die tomorrow and they might never know. I don't think I'll let myself get hung up on not getting the reaction I wanted back. If I tell someone I miss them and get nothing back, okay, just as long as you know I do. Perhaps just a little bit less considering you don't give a fuck tho.

so learning German is ridiculous. it is just the worst. so instead of skiing we're learning German for 2 days straight like 6 hours a day. who knew you needed to the language to work in the country what is this. but another 160 people showed up yesterday. I also have a pretty sweet roomie even though I probably terrified everyone I met yesterday because I was in such a state after friday night and we went to the chalets while I was wrapped in a blanket and I'm sure they all thought I was mental and concerned that I might vomit in there accommodation so, you know, also good!
