Skye was confused for just a moment till she saw the box, her eyes widening slightly. Her hands covered her mouth as she looked at the box, then up at him with happy tears in her eyes. She didnât know exactly why she was so emotional, but between his heartfelt words and what the ring itself meant she was overjoyed. The young woman reached out to take his hands when she noticed they were shaking, grinning brightly at him.  âHawthorne, yes! Yes yes, a thousand times yes! Youâre my family, I love you more than anyone or anything, and the idea of spending my life with you is so amazing and makes me so happy I could burst.â Grinning at him still, she moved to open the box, gasping when she saw the ring. âItâs perfect! Itâs wonderful! Hawthorne.â She bit her lip, smiling brightly at her wolf.  âI love you.â
Hawthorne let out the breath he had been holding. It was probably silly. Ridiculous even. But there it was. He had been nervous that she would find his words ... over the top perhaps or unwelcome at worst. He held her small hands in his own and nodded appreciatively. Did she just say she loved him? Had anyone ever said that before? No. They had not. âI .... donât know what it means to love someone Skye so I canât say if that is what I feel but I know that I never want to be apart from you. That I want to know about your heartbreaks as much as I want to share all your joys. If that is love then .... yes.â
