This is the problem with dealing with someone who is actually a good listener. They don’t jump in on your sentences, saving you from actually finishing them, or talk over you, allowing what you do manage to get out to be lost or altered in transit. Instead, they wait, so you have to keep going.

In high school I thought I was happy but I never could have imagined how much better my life would turn out. And the secret to why it got so great is really simple- it’s because I made it that way. I went to college and I sought after good times. I didn’t sit in my bed expecting amazing things to happen to me. I went to parties, I met new people, I took chances, I went on walks, I drank the punch at the frat parties. And of course I had some bad nights but I don’t regret any of it because even out of the bad nights I got stories and lessons and friends. What it comes down to is your life really is what you make it, so make it a good one.

January met me with bright eyes and a crooked smile March made my chest heave with every wondrous beat of my heart in time with yours July left me with roses and honey suckle lips Floating on cloud nine into September Where the shadowed nights seemed luminescent with you by my side everything tasted sweeter everything looked so much nicer the world was so much kinder Then the winter took you away and my finger tips are freezing where you left with the wind, they’re searching for your touch I am so cold empty hands and naked souls I blink the days away with coffee and pained thoughts numb lips and sour plums is all I taste I can’t remember yours But I know December’s fire will ablaze keep me warm, I’ll find a cure bring on January once more

I am not just a book you can leave on a shelf Building dust over time and fraying at the edges While you carry on Knowing Or assuming I’ll be there when you want me. taking me for granted I suppose it’d be better if my life were a book At least then I could rip the pages out.

It’s like when someone says, ‘How are you?’ Do you say, ‘Well, my head hurts and I’m lonely and depressed and I’m worried about everything and the world is collapsing and full of evil’? Or do you say, ‘I’m fine’?
