You know when people try and sell their concert tickets online cause they can no longer go? Imagine you were supposed to be going to a concert for your favourite artist with your boyfriend, but you end up splitting up just before you get to go.
And youâre thinking about just selling both tickets, because youâre already feeling low after the breakup and you donât really want to go to the show on your own.
But you convince yourself that you deserve that happiness, and you decide that youâre going to go and see them anyway. Even if you just stand at the side and dance with a drink in hand itâs better than being at home alone wallowing in your misery another weekend.
So you list the spare ticket online, and you get a message off a cute guy thatâs interested in buying it. And youâre arranging to meet outside the venue before the show to do the exchange, saving his contact in your phone as âBakugouâ just in case you need to call him to try and find him when youâre waiting outside.
Itâs the only text you get from him as you look around to see if you can spot him. Youâd seen enough of his pictures on social media to know what he looked like (not that youâd spent the rest of the evening stalking him or anything), but youâd managed to spot him through the sea of people making their way inside the venue as you waved him down. And as he came closer to you, youâd noticed that he was alone too.
But heâs gorgeous, far more attractive than the photographs on his socials (if that were even possible) and definitely way out of your league. So you just hand him over the ticket as he gives you the money for it as you tell each other to enjoy the show and you make your way inside.
Itâs only after the first support artist that you feel someone nudge your shoulder and you turn to see the same guy standing beside you and offering a beer out to you, which you take with a confused expression on your face.
âFor not being one of those assholes trying to sell tickets to this for triple face value.â He rasped.
âOh, Iâd never,â You shook your head, âI had to pay double the price for them last time, I made sure I didnât have to do it again. Thank you though.â
You motioned to the beer, smiling as you took a step towards him to avoid a group of girls exiting the pit behind you.
âDidnât know you came to this alone either.â He nodded, taking a sip of his own beer as the crowd bustled inside the venue.
âOh yeah, I was meant to be here withââ You felt your throat tighten at the reminder that you were supposed to be here with your now ex-boyfriend, âMy ex.â
âThat why you had the spare ticket?â
âYeah,â You took your own sip of beer as you tried to ease the tightness in your chest, âI wasnât gonna come at all.â
âFuck him,â The guy scoffed, âAinât no reason you shouldnât enjoy this because heâs a fuckinâ idiot.â
âWhat about you?â You murmur, âDidnât you have anyone to come with?â
âMy friends ainât into this type of music,â He shrugs, âAnd the one that is is workinâ tonight. But theyâre my favourite band, I couldnât miss âem. I was about to pay triple the price for a ticket until I saw your post.â
âYou were lucky, I guess.â
His crimson eyes meet yours and you can feel your heart pounding against your ribcage as you feel your cheeks burning.
âYeah, Iâm real fuckinâ lucky.â
