Part of being disabled in any form is having an underlying insecurity about being in the way, being a burden, but also being left behind. Some days I'm fully present for my family and friends and then others I can't stay awake through a full conversation. I know they understand, they've never shown they don't. But the lack of control I have on my body and the frustration I have when I don't meet *my* expectations for myself make remembering that I'm not a burden hard some days
