Ahhh! It looks like Fate is telling someone (either a member of the team or a new sorcerer that hadn't heard of Zithe before) about the Mad God, warning them of the danger she poses and not to be fooled by her beauty and that smile.

Notice how much healthier the second set looks? Their lips cover their teeth, they actually have fat on their bodies, their skin doesn't wrinkle like they're dehydrated. You can't see every single tendon and muscle move because you aren't supposed to. Dinosaurs are animals, not reptilian body-builders.

THIS is the kind of change I want to see in how we create realistic depictions of not only dinosaurs, but all prehistoric creatures. Paleoart has always had a huge issue with shrink-wrapping and making these animals look terrifying instead of making them look like, well, animals.

STOP BACKYARD BREEDING YOUR DINOSAURS

The first part of why the dinosaurs are just like that is Jurassic Park was made to be a theme park first and foremost. The science, accuracy, and health/care of the animals were not high on the priority list. John Hammond was running a business, and he needed a way to attract customers. The best way to do this?

Make the dinosaurs look as scary and dangerous as people believed they were. The thrill will attract people by the thousands.

Secondly, and here's the scientific explanation, they're technically not dinosaurs. They're weird hybrids of dinosaurs and a whole bunch of other modern animals including frogs and in the more recent movies, even cuddlefish. This is because the dinosaur DNA used to make them was damaged and incomplete. So if you stick a whole bunch of DNA in a test tube and use it to make a creature, that creature is most likely not going to come out a completely happy and healthy animal.
