(credits to the other anon who asked about mutant mayhem. i just watched the movie and am in awe with Leo's character)
could you pretty please write a oneshot where it's a similar scene to when they first met april ??? i'm not 100% how it'd pan out, but you're amazing and i'm sure wherever you take it it'll be awesome.
Okayy so we're going to stick this in here, mostly because I have another part of my miniseries done I just forgot to transfer it to Tumblr. ૮( つ╥﹏╥)つ
But here anon, I apologize that this took so long. ૮◞ ‸ ◟ ა
The alley should've been empty.
That was the whole point of taking the shortcut home.
Instead, there were... voices.
Not angry ones. More like arguing.
"...I'm telling you, that's not how magnets work."
"It literally sticks to the fridge!"
"That doesn't make it magnetic, Mikey."
"...Did that trash bag just talk?"
Complete, deafening silence.
Four shadows bolted from behind a dumpster.
A blur of green disappeared over a fence.
Another slammed directly into a stack of milk crates.
"No you're not, you just exploded the groceries!"
A watermelon rolled dramatically across the alley.
Most people probably would've screamed.
"...I mean... that's kind of impressive."
Four heads slowly peeked over the fence.
"...You can see us?" one of them asked.
"I... don't think I'm hallucinating?"
"She thinks she's hallucinating," Donnie whispered.
"I don't think that's better," Mikey whispered back.
The tallest one—the blue-masked turtle—cleared his throat and stepped out first.
His brothers collectively groaned.
"You told them your name!"
You couldn't help laughing.
It slipped out before you could stop it.
Leo's face somehow managed to become even redder.
"No—no, like... in a good way?"
He rubbed the back of his neck.
"I was trying to make this less awkward."
"...It's kinda charming though."
His brain visibly shut down.
Mikey gasped dramatically.
Leo buried his face in his hands.
Donnie pinched the bridge of his nose.
"This is somehow worse than April."
"Oh, way worse," Raph agreed.
"...We have said too much."
The brothers all started talking over each other.
"You can't make someone forget names!"
Leo looked like he wanted the earth to swallow him whole.
He glanced at his brothers wrestling over the watermelon.
"I think you're all kinda funny."
You looked each of them over.
Raph was pretending not to care while discreetly making sure everyone stayed behind him.
Donnie was clutching the broken grocery bag like losing cereal was the greatest tragedy of the evening.
Mikey had somehow put the watermelon back on his head.
Of you being afraid of him.
His shoulders dropped just a little.
"...I used the wrong word."
"You definitely used the wrong word."
Then you reached into your backpack.
...a pack of gummy worms.
Mikey gasped louder than should've been physically possible.
"You know gummy worms?" you asked.
There was another long silence.
"...Is this a trap?" Raph asked.
"...Could still be a trap."
Donnie adjusted his goggles.
"I detect... approximately a ninety-eight percent chance they're just gummy worms."
"I was trying to sound smart."
"We're taking the gummy worms."
Mikey snatched them with the speed of light.
"I LOVE YOU, MYSTERY HUMAN!"
Leo slapped a hand over Mikey's mouth.
"...Can I ask something?"
"If I see you guys again..."
The four brothers immediately stiffened.
For a moment, nobody answered.
Not the awkward, panicked smile from before.
Before anyone could make the moment too sentimental—
The brothers scattered once more.
Leo chased after them, tripping over the same milk crate Raph had knocked over earlier.
Their laughter echoed down the rooftops until it faded into the city noise.
You stood there for another second, smiling to yourself.
You adjusted your backpack.
"...That was definitely a better walk home than usual."
I hope you enjoyed anon, I didn't quite know where to take this but I just went with whatever felt right. ૮(˶╥︿╥)ა
