⸻ summary
Kitty is the sharp-tongued, seductive persona of Yoon Jihoon ... a runaway prodigy turned star dancer in Seoul’s underworld. Neurotic, impulsive, and dangerously charismatic, he thrives on control, attention, and the power to make or break anyone with a smile or a snap. Beneath the glitter and bravado lies a shattered psyche, shaped by abandonment and a single, irreversible act of violence. Kitty is both mask and monster ... beautiful, volatile, and always performing. ⸻ biography
YOON JIHOON HAD BEEN A SURPRISE. It was only a few months after his parents moved into their first home that his mother found out she was pregnant. Regardless, they were determined to make it work and became devoted to his care. They both worked full time, his mother as an English teacher and his father as the school's Director. With his parents' occupations, it was only natural they would raise Kitty to be academically focused, having him able to speak three languages by the time he entered middle school. He thrived on their attention and praise of his accomplishments and it further propelled his thirst for knowledge. HE WAS FOUR WHEN HE FELL IN LOVE WITH DANCING. His parents had taken him to a small local festival celebrating the arts. The music and the paintings had been nice, but it was the dancing that caught Jihoon's eye. The performance hadn't even ended before he looked up at his parents and told them, "I'm going to do that." And so, he did. While he started small, it was immediately apparent that he was born to dance. Ballet and contemporary came as easy as if he'd known to do them in a past life. Seeing the natural talent, and at the advice of his tutors, his parents put all of their savings into allowing Jihoon to keep his extracurricular going, so the boy devoted his nights and weekends to dance. AT SIXTEEN, EVERYTHING CHANGED. His mother became pregnant once again. The constant attention pivoted onto the new baby, and Jihoon was all but forgotten. Their already humble house seemed tiny now, and he knew the baby wouldn't be sleeping in his parents room forever. It was better to leave on his own terms than wait to be pushed out, so he took whatever money he could scavenge from his savings, and his phone, and he left. Told them he would be staying with friends. They didn't try to stop him. For the next few years he drifted from couch to couch of newly found friends, being generally delinquent and tangling with crowds his parents would certainly disapprove of. But it wasn't too bad, and it wasn't like anyone particularly cared, and he managed to make it to graduation. BUT HE NEEDED A JOB, so at eighteen when his friend made him an offer, he simply couldn't refuse. It wasn't exactly what he'd been planning for himself – the job being at some seedy strip joint. But a job was a job and it would allow him to make money dancing, so who was he to complain? Within a week, Jihoon is replaced by Kitty. His sharp tongue and his pretty face get him a lot of attention, and suddenly hes thriving. Once again, all eyes are on him as he outperforms his peers. Money littered the ground beneath his feet, and the pretty boy is getting a taste of the spotlight. The cash he earns is immediately saved and put towards the bike of his dreams.
HES A HIT NOW. The obsession of many, and a name on the tip of the tongue of some of the most powerful men in the city. The club reaches new heights thanks to his hard work and dedication, and he enjoys the power he has over them all, the ability to build and break with just his body and voice. He's performing on a stage, albeit not in ballet shoes, but he's still undeniably a star. He doesn't have to sleep with them, he just has to build the dream. HE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER. Nothing good ever lasts forever. The adoration and attention he so craved eventually led to him being singled out by shadier and shadier people. Ones who could see the power the money and eyes had on him. It comes to a head one night, a few days shy of his two year anniversary at the club. He's in the back room of a club that won't ever feel like home again, and at the mercy of a gang who just wanted to have some fun. The gun is in his hand, but it isn’t his choice -- he's never even held one before. He has to do what they say. BECAUSE HE'S A GOOD LITTLE KITTY. His thoughts swim, trying desperately to cling on to something but fueled by fear and whatever they'd slipped in his drink. The cool metal of the weapon in his hand is the only thing that grounds him. He pulls the trigger, but he doesn't hear the shot ring out. Doesn't hear the slump of the body hitting the floor, or the praises given to him for being so obedient. He sees, though. Sees the life leave the man's eyes as he takes his last breath. He sees the children, the family he'd leave behind. HIS PSYCHE BREAKS. He sees... that he wants more. The adrenaline. The power. He wants more, and he wants it now. He's no longer Jihoon, instead he takes on the persona of Kitty full time; irritable, irrational, neurotic and impulsive. Yet, still the name on the lips of many kkangpae throughout Seoul, with his good looks, sharp wit and playful personality.
