The instant he rolls over, still out of breath, she’s up.
Her spine glistens as she plucks her knickers from the rug. “We’re not doing this anymore.”
He drags his sweaty fringe from his eyes, bewildered. “I made you come three times.”
She slips into her camisole. “Right. And I saw the way you looked at me when you came.”
She pins him with a hard look. “You fell in love with me.”
His laugh sounds hollow. “I fucked the common sense right out of you.”
“No, apparently I did.” Her smile is too sweet, and not really sweet at all.
“I’m not in love with you,” he says desperately. “I’m… just in love with having sex with you.”
“I mean it. There are no feelings involved whatsoever.”
She slips into her boots and shrugs on her cloak. “Kay.”
“Where are you going? This wasn’t the last time, was it?” His mind is reeling. She can’t just end things like that!
She draws her hair from her collar and fluffs it out with her fingers. “Blood purity?”
She pauses, deliberating. “Your family?”
“Not in charge of my life.” He fumbles out of bed, shuffling into his pants so he doesn’t look like a naked idiot arguing with her.
She heads out of his bedroom, towards the fireplace. “Relationship status?”
He hesitates, watching as she snaps a dry leaf from his ivy plant, and checks the soil for moisture.
She Accios the watering can. “Honestly, Draco, your plants would die without me. It’s springtime. Someone should water them twice a week.” She enchants it to water the rest of the houseplants. Then sighs. “You’re doing it again.”
“Looking at me like you’re in love.”
“Would that be so terrible?” His heart is pounding. Who can blame it? Granger is terrifying.
“It’s complicated,” she repeats, circling back to his answer. “Because of me?”
“Who else waters my houseplants without being told?”
He lifts a brow, proving his point.
“No more casual sex.” She throws a fistful of Floo powder in the fireplace and calls out her address.
Draco’s stomach lurches painfully.
She looks over her shoulder, meeting his gaze. “Eight o’clock tonight. You’re taking me out. We’ll reassess the relationship status then.”
As the flames recede, he collapses against the wall, laughing. Holy fucking shit. His heart’s going to explode.
