so the other night i was with friend cop, and i went to give him a hug goodbye, and he turned off his radio (???) and i asked what was up and he said “last time we hugged your shoulder hit my radio and called dispatch” and i thought he meant like, the 911 dispatcher but NO i accidentally radioed every single other officer on shift and they all heard him say “i love you- oh shit my radio’s on”

just gonna add on that there’s a 0% chance the other officers on shift didn’t radio back “omg love you too!!!” or try to figure out who he was talking to and i fell down laughing at this and he sat there with a look on his face that said for the last two days he’d been dealing with a constant “[10 code]” “what’s up” “i love you”

Haha I had a similar incident when I was younger. I was visiting my soon-to-be stepdad!cop outside the PD. And when I went to hug him goodbye, he surprise!tickled me, which caused me to screech very loudly, right into his radio, while accidentally leaning on the button. Cue 5 cops racing out the door, expecting some hideous scene to be unfolding right on their doorstep, to find the sergeant wrestling with his 15-year-old daughter. Whoops.

i really want you guys to give yourselves more credit. i’m seeing a lot about “harry creating safe spaces” and i won’t disagree. harry has. he’s spending time every show making sure everybody there knows they’re loved and accepted. he’s creating a space where he can be open with us and we can be open back. but please, please, give yourselves some freaking credit. there was a time in this fandom where this stuff was scoffed at. let’s not pretend harry changed that all by himself. he didn’t have the power to, literally, so we did it. we brought the rainbows. we created spaces for LGBT fans. we were loud enough to drown out the people who wanted to keep us out. we’ve done this. please remember that. as much as harry means to us, as much as we mean to harry, you did this for yourself. you created this space just as much as harry did. be proud of that ❤️

The thing that warms my heart is… Harry went really out of his way to show his love for the rainbow flags and the community. People didn’t “throw it in his face”, no, he tied it to his mic in San Francisco and LA, he deliberately took one onto the stage when they were banned in Nashville, he put those little trans flags up before the show even started in Washington, he almost broke a girl’s neck getting that boa in Toronto. And every time he waved it and danced with it and showed how much he cared. He really went above and beyond, being so vocal, so visual, so obviously explicitly open and loving and embracing. And now, it’s spreading to the audience. Everyone feels loved. People bring in more rainbows. Someone made a ton of them and is brave enough to hand them out and people will accept them and wave them, because Harry showed them and they feel safe to wave them there, in front of someone who they know will love it, because he SHOWED them. He literally created a safe space and a place of love.
