aadya, even though she is indeed a likable character, has no chemistry at all with deva in the movie. they share at most ten words with each other before deva moves on. deva and varadha, on the other hand, is a completely different story. what solidified it for me was when, in the malayali version at least, deva calls varadha his.

no subtext, no symbolism or metaphors or anything of the sort.

just as deva belongs to varadha as his salaar, varadha belongs to deva.
