God I love discussing books thank you so much for asking this… SO you didn’t mention which genre you’re looking for so I’ll start by linking this ask it’s from last year but includes my all-timer list of fave reads so those are the base ones I always recommend and there are some different genres in there! I also made some romance recs (specifically marriage of convenience) in this ask so there could be some good stuff for you in there as well!
As for recent reads I honestly haven’t been bowled over by a lot of stuff lately?? This year has been relatively disappointing nothing has really been Life Changing for me as of yet. HOWEVER here are some ones I’ve enjoyed in the last little while (below the cut because I’m allergic to shutting the fuck up)
Romance:
The Night We Met by Abby Jimenez - the angst in this was BEAUTIFULLL the guy falls for his best friends girlfriend and yeah.. delicious… (this is the second book in the series but the first is uhhh Shit and I don’t recommend it so feel free to skip that you don’t need it anyway gjekgjgjg)
Play Along from the Windy City series by Liz Tomforde - tbh was very surprised by how much I liked this. full disclosure I skipped multiple books of this series bc they seemed annoying but this one was good the guy was a certified Yearner they had him whimpering and begging and all kinds of shit and I think that’s beautiful
Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams - wasn’t sold on the writing style here at first but it ended up actually being really fucking cute I liked it a LOT the guy was so hot I was willing to forgive a lot of the other stuff lmao. She owns a flower shop he’s a bodyguard for a famous person etc etc. once again the second book in a series where I skipped everything else. There is a pattern here as you can tell
These Summer Storms by Sarah MacLean - this one is romance adjacent like there’s def a romance plot but it’s primarily a family drama. I thought it was really well done I loved the dynamics here! This author also writes historical romances and you can tell she knows what she’s doing!!
Basically the whole Part of Your World series by Abby Jimenez is very cute I would recommend if you haven’t read it!
Pitcher Perfect by Tessa Bailey - Miss Tessa is EXTREMELY hit or miss but this one wasn’t bad! Prepare yourself for some bonkers dirty talk tho she goes all out (this book has some of the least cringe variations of that tho at least)
The Fake Mate by Lana Ferguson - ummmmm this is basically just glorified omegaverse unfortunately I did find it EXTREMELY compelling lmao
Regular ol fiction
200 Monas by Jan Saenz - honestly zero idea how to describe this it was well and truly fucking bonkers cuckoo bananas but I had the best time reading it?? Idk just a Trip from start to finish also there’s a hot guy with great chemistry with the main character (decidedly very horny in an insane way tho basically the fmc finds a bunch of drugs à la ao3 sex pollen in her dead moms closet and needs to sell them to pay off drug dealers. It sounds crazy bc it is. You just gotta trust me on this one tho ok Takeachanceonme.mp3)
Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Howarth - teenage girls in Ireland in the 90s going through the trials and tribulations of being gay and also Catholic. A bit slow but really really well done
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah - VERY atmospheric (Alaska) kinda goes off the rails towards the end but overall was quite well done I liked it
Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon - Not joking I read this bc I saw an interviewer gifted it to Cillian Murphy and I figured if it’s good enough for Cillian it’s good enough for me. Suuuuper super interesting concept it’s a bit hard to explain so I recommend looking it up but yeah a lot about the beauty and harshness of humanity and the importance of art in it all but with a bit of silliness in its premise and execution

I really do try to be understanding with the prices that hair stylists have nowadays especially with color services and hair treatments but honestly I cannot understand how and why a haircut is $100+ for straight hair….like with coloring services it’s at least understandable that it’s more expensive because product prices go up and it’s also a lot more labor and skill going into it but a haircut being $100 or more is just insane like I know the price of good shears and it still does not justify it for me like why do I have to get charged crazy when all I do is get a trim?? It’s really to a point where I considered cutting my own hair or going to someone else also because the current stylist I have been with for like 2 years says she can’t do pixie cuts and I was thinking of doing that so I guess it’s time to cut the cord

I def agree though I think $100+ just for a regular haircut is kind of crazy (like idk even $85 seems more reasonable to me) and I would also be hesitant to pay that!! One of my friends is a hair stylist in the San Francisco area tho and I think she also charges quite a bit for cuts but she’s talked about how it’s like.. I guess more of a ~luxury service depending on the person/salon?? So you’re paying more for the overall experience of it all in those cases I suppose
But you’re right when it’s at the point that every hair stylist on the block is charging a ton just for standard services it does feel a bit excessive. I used to have Very long hair (down to my butt type long) and I went one place once who charged me so much extra just because my hair was long?? When all they did was wash it and cut off like half an inch from the bottom I was like girl……. This feels like a scam but also what do I know lmao (I do acknowledge of course they gotta use more product for washing and stuff in those cases but damn!!)

Oooh I think I answered something similar to this recently?? I’ve never tried boob tape (tbh it did seem very complex to me but I’m sure there are a million good tutorials out there) but I have tried the sticky nipple covers and they worked well!! The dress I wore them with had a bit more structure so that helped in feeling Secured but I just got some miscellaneous ones on Amazon and I was really surprised by how well they worked?? Like they weren’t uncomfortable and survived an entire sweaty day of wedding stuff and dancing and also weren’t noticeable at all through my dress which was a satin type material
So I think if you’re looking for more actual Support the boob tape is probs your best bet but if you just want a lil coverage the nipple covers work great!

Ngl I did expect it to be raunchier based on the first episode and also the way everyone was talking about it but the vast majority of the sex stuff was via boring montage which was much less fun lmao that being said I was pleasantly surprised by it I thought the acting was good and I liked the chemistry between the pairings!! And also yes.. everybody is very hot and I think that’s beautiful
