It was winter season, the streets of New York at the end of December were starting to turn white because of the small snowflakes that were falling, you were admiring everything from the window when suddenly your phone rang and it was a message from Anthony Volpe, your best friend.

We have been very close friends for a long time, since we were little we have been very close, we went to the same school together even in high school, people thought and still think that we have some kind of love relationship but no, we are just best friends... or so i thought.

You had always seen him as just a friend, but as we grew and changed, your relationship with him also changed, he was very attentive, loving, he cared about you, he always helped you in any way, if you were in trouble he was there to help you solve it, if you felt any disappointment or sadness he was there to comfort you, whatever it was he was always there and you were there for him too.

At the beginning everything was very normal when you were together but with time it changed, your heart was beating non-stop every time he and you were together, his closeness made you nervous but you always tried to ignore it, two months ago you denied that you felt something for him but now... you accepted that your affection and love for him had evolved, they were no longer friend feelings, those feelings had become something more.

You cried thinking that you were falling in love with him, you didn't want that but at the same time you did, you wanted to love him in another way but you didn't want to ruin the friendship but at the same time you believed that the feelings you have for him, he also feels for you but you weren't sure about that and that made you very afraid, afraid of being wrong about what you both feel, afraid of being rejected, afraid of ruining your great friendship, afraid that he would move away from you but today.... you took the courage to confess your feelings to him, you took advantage of the fact that today you were going out together, just the two of you, to a small and quiet bar near your home, it wasn't a date... not for him but maybe for you it was.

When you saw his message he said he was going to pick you up but you stopped him and told him you'd better meet him at the place, he asked again if you really didn't want him to pick you up at your house but you insisted there was no need.

The excuse with which you planned this outing was because you had not formally celebrated his good season with the Yankees, so you wanted to give him a little gift and confess your feelings at once.

You got dressed and make up quickly because it was almost time to leave your house to go to the place where they were going to meet, when you were ready you went in search of his gift, you opened the medium box to verify that the gift was in its place.

"ahh it's all good" you said nervously as you saw the gift and because your moment of good or for bad was coming, you took the box with the dark gray bow and put it in another gift bag so as not to carry the box, you put on your scarf, took the gift and went to take an uber.

You were shaking almost all the way, you were so nervous about what was going to happen today that your stomach ached and roared with nerves, you got off the uber and walked to the door of the bar, through the small window you could see him there in his winter clothes, sitting alone looking at some Christmas lights that had adorned the place.

You felt your heart beating a mile a minute at that moment watching him, you wanted to back out and go home and tell him you had gotten sick but you had no choice, you were already there so… you adjusted your clothes, your hair and brushed off some snow that was on your head, and went inside, when the door bell rang, Anthony quickly turned his eyes to the door and smiled as he saw you coming.

You approached the table where you were and smiled at him "hey!" said Anthony "are you ok?" he said smiling.

"what… why? what happened? do I have something?" you said scared and very nervous, thinking that something was wrong.

"You look a little pale," he said looking at your face in detail.

"shit... he’ll notice I'm nervous" you said in your head. "whaaat? nooooo, pfff I'm not, it's your eyes that are seeing me wrong or pale" you let out a nervous laugh and sat down across from him leaving his gift on the floor next to you

"Do you want to have a drink or something to eat?" he asked politely.

You didn't want to eat or drink anything, you were so nervous that if you ingested anything it would be very bad but it would be weird not to drink anything, so you asked for a glass of water while your nerves passed.

We were chatting for a while as Anthony drank some alcohol while we laughed and chatted, little by little you felt that at any moment you would have to tell him but the words wouldn’t come out easily, at that moment Anthony got up and said he was going to the bathroom.

The moment he left you decided to join him in drinking some alcohol to lower your nerves, maybe with a little alcohol in your system you could forget your nerves and loosen up a little but without control you started to drink more while he was gone.

It took him a long time to go to the bathroom and by the time he came back your eyes were almost numb from the effect of the alcohol, you were not someone who could hold a lot of alcohol so you spent drinking, you were conscious but your eyes were getting numb, you were no longer paying attention to what he was saying, you were out of you because of the effect of what you had drunk.

You were with your head down looking at the table trying not to fall asleep and all you heard was Anthony taking a shot of whiskey and putting the glass on the table.

"hey... y/n" said Anthony calling your attention, as you could you raised your head and tried to open your eyes wide to see him. "i like... noo" he stopped and rethought what he was going to say "go out with me... be my girlfriend" he said without hesitation and he watched you intently waiting for an answer.

There was a long silence after his big confession, you blinked slowly trying not to close your eyes and Anthony kept looking at you nervously waiting for you to say something.

"ah... who are you?" you said slurring your words and trying to guess who was standing in front of you.

"What?" said Anthony with a confused face, suddenly you fell asleep on the table almost hitting your head, Anthony put his hands in time so you wouldn't hit your head on what was on the table, he was amazed at what had happened in so few seconds.

"hey... hey..." he said worriedly looking around the bar to see if there was someone watching you. "are you drunk?" he said very scared looking at you "but... but at what point did you get drunk? how is she drunk?" he said scared looking at the bottles of alcohol on the floor.

"What? How could she drink so much on her own and in such a short time?" he said confused as he continued to hold your head.

You were very comfortable taking a nap in his hand, when Anthony saw that you would never get up from here, he paid the bill and then put your bag on top of you and took you to carry you on his back, took the gift bag where your gift came and walked to where his car was.

You were literally hanging on his back, Anthony was already tired of carrying you because he had to leave his car far away from where you were.

"Hey! wake up... I can't take you anymore, I feel you heavy now that you're drunk" he said as he felt you slipping off his back and he settled you back as best he could "why did you have to drink so much while I was gone!" he said a little louder and almost scolding you.

He was panting from how tired he was from carrying you. "hey... wait a minute" he said agitated and trying to hold on with more strength, when suddenly you started to move and stood up confused from his shoulder where you were resting your head.

"no, waaaiitt, moveee" you said looking confused and slapped him on the back to get him to put you down. "hey! nooo, nooo, nooo" said Anthony trying to keep his balance while you were hitting him. "I'm gonna fall down!"

And pufff, he tripped and you both fell to the ground that was covered with snow, the gift bag fell to the side and you neither more nor less felt no pain, you didn’t give importance to having fallen, the only thing you did was to curl up on the cold ground while Anthony complained about the blow that had been given but then stopped and verified that you had not hurt yourself.

He approached you and started shaking you. "hey… hey!" he said shaking you slightly "why did you do that?" he said serious and worried, he rubbed his knees while he was looking around he noticed the gift bag that was near your feet.

He approached curiously and took the box out of the bag. "What is this?" he said confused looking at the box with the gray bow.

He put it on the floor next to you to open it and when he saw what was inside he was surprised, there was a handmade red wool scarf and on top of it there was a folded paper, he looked at the box confused with what was inside and gave you a little look and then he took the paper and opened it little by little.

When he opened the paper carefully, he notices that there was a note that read. "hey, Anthony... I think I really like you. What should I do?" he read with wide eyes what the paper said and then shot you a surprised look at what it said.

You were still sleeping peacefully on the cold floor curled up while he looked at you in surprise, unable to believe what he was reading, he looked again and again at the paper in his hands, then he took the scarf in his hands.

"YEEESS! I DID IT! I GOT IT!” He said shouting with happiness without caring if you woke up or if anyone saw him. "I DID IT!" he got up from the floor and started screaming spinning around, he was celebrating that his best friend he loved so much confessed to him, he was totally happy that the girl he loves with all his heart felt the same for him.
