Today is World Kidney day which is been celebrating all across the Globe. According to the recent report 10% of the population worldwide is affected by chronic kidney disease (CKD), and millions die each year because they do not have access to affordable treatment. It is estimated that number of cases of kidney failure will increase in developing countries, such as China and India. In middle-income countries, treatment with dialysis or kidney transplantation creates a huge financial burden for the majority of the people who need it. Many people cannot afford treatment at all, resulting in the death of over 1 million people annually from untreated kidney failure.

We have a notion that kidney disease mainly occurs for elderly or middle aged people. But it´ s surprising that too many kids and even infants are suffering from this problem.

Kidney disease can affect children in various ways, ranging from treatable disorders without long-term consequences to life-threatening conditions. Acute kidney disease develops suddenly, lasts a short time, and can be serious with long-lasting consequences or may go away completely once the underlying cause has been treated. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) does not go away with treatment and tends to get worse over time. CKD eventually leads to kidney failure, described as end-stage kidney disease or ESRD when treated with a kidney transplant or dialysis.

Children with CKD or kidney failure face many challenges, which can include

* A negative self-image

* Relationship problems

* Behavior problems

* Learning problems

* Trouble concentrating

* Delayed language skills development

* Delayed motor skills development

Kidney disease often goes undetected in the general population, but children and adolescents are at an even greater risk due to the nature of the causes of the diseases and the ambiguity of the symptoms.

Adding to this difficulty, children might not be aware of some of the changes that are impacting their body and will not always let their parents know of potential issues.

Gastroenterologist Qualification: DNB/ DM

Cardiologist Qualification: DNB/ DM

Neurosurgeon Qualification: MCh/ DNB

Nephrologist Qualification: DNB/ DM

Endocrinologist Qualification: DNB/ DM

Anesthesiologist Qualification: DA/ DNB/ MD

Physician Qualification: MD General Medicine/ Internal Medicine
