Artemis, the goddess of hunt and the moon fell in love with Orion. She was so entranced by him, she forgot her divinely duty of illuminating the night sky. Her twin brother Apollo, seeing Orion swimming in the sea, dared his sister to strike what only appeared to be a spot on the waves. Not knowing it was Orion, Artemis shot an arrow and killed him. Later, when she found out what she did, she placed his body among the stars. The grief she felt explains why the moon looks so sad at night.

He was still upset. His eyebrows were furrowed and his lips were down turned into a deep frown. He just couldnât believe that despite her not trying to know him, he still continued to look to her with high hopes that sheâd see him deeper than what he showed. He was foolish. He always had been ever since he met her. He couldnât hate her either. That made him more angry. He hated a lot of things, but for some reason, his own being couldnât come to abhor her. To him, she may be naive and senseless, but she was still pure-hearted and delicate. Thatâs what mostly appealed to him about the goddess. It wasnât just her outward beauty but the beauty she held inside. The passion she felt for everything she believed in, even if it clashed with his beliefs. She was steadfast and strong. He admired her so much and knew he wouldnât stop admiring her if they stopped interacting. She was someone that a person could never forget.Â
But, now wasnât the time to cave in to her. He was still mad, still hurt. âHow does wishing we werenât different not the same as wanting me to change?â He honesty didnât want an answer; itâd only upset him further and he didnât want to say something he didnât mean as a result. He just raised a brow at her and took his coat but didnât put it on. He wanted to feel iciness when he walked out of her home. He wanted to feel cold all the way down to his bones with hopes his body turned to ice and shatter with the wind. He stood there and stared at her with sharp eyes filled with disappointment and sadness. âNo. Donât be sorry. Iâm sorry. Iâm sorry for wasting your time. I should have never followed after that night in the factory. I should have never gone hunting with you. I should have never hoped youâd accept me and my flaws,â he glanced down, holding his coat tighter in his hand. âI just thought friends accepted one another despite the differences but I understand now that we were never meant to be friends.â He sighed softly and let out a bitter chuckle; he mumbled softly, âThis is probably why I barely have any friendsâŚâ
Jongsuk bowed to her and stayed in that position for a long moment before coming back up, âI will still look up to you. But thatâs all. A goddess. Thatâs all Iâll look to you as. Someone I can never have.â He started to hate himself more than he already did when he stared at her devastated and heartbroken expression. She held fast to the doorknob but didnât open it so he stepped closer reaching out and placing his hand on hers. He didnât look at her as he turned the knob with her hand still under his and pulled open the door, gently moving her aside. âGoodbye, Harlow. It was nice getting to know you.â
When she first came back to the human world, her perspective was narrow-minded. Find Apollo. Stop and destroy the Apollite race. Bring Apollo back to Olympus. As soon as she stepped in Seoul, a surge of living beyond the god that she was filled her up. It was dangerous for a woman so locked in to her own identity. The goddess of the chastity, acting frivolously in front of a mortal, desiring his attention, becoming jealous and vengeful. Okay, the vengeful part was familiar to Artemis, but when she met her Huntsman the resemblance to Orion was uncanny. The feelings were so right, that she allowed it to take over her actions, becoming clouded with thoughts of being with next to him on adventure after adventure. But she knew, it was short lived. Noctis and her father, warned her to not meddle in the lives of mortals, especially men. Especially when it came with fondness and warmth. In the books, Greek gods and goddesses laid in bed with mortals and Titans. However none actually remained loyal. Her parents were proof, Aphrodite was proof. Artemisâ vow to remain chaste was a testament for her own freedom. It was also what made her the goddess she was today. Noctisâ voice entered her mind, âYou led him on. Shame on you Artemis.â She felt horrible. Her actions did show affection, show a desire to be more than friends. Hyuna did say one shouldnât be naked with another if they werenât going to... Jongsukâs voice shook her thoughts away, and Noctisâ voice. He had it all wrong, and all she had to do was explain it to him. Explain to him how sheâd accept him as is, and she always did. She was a lot like him, alone.Â
âStop, donât say that.â she managed to say softly. She couldnât listen to him speak anymore before she broke down in front of him, and it was getting difficult to stiffen her face, to prevent the tears from pouring down. He saw the top of his head as he bent to bow before her. Isnât that what any god would want? To be looked at, prayed to, to be desired... Why from her Huntsman, it wasnât enough. âThat is all you will see me as?â She turned away from him, and the loss of her Huntsman became too much. Tightening her grip on the knob, her eyesight became blurry from the pools of tears threatening to overflow. Her head moved away from his view when he moved over her, placing his warm hand atop hers. She pushed the door, against his pull.Â
âFine.â She took a deep breath and wiped the tears one more time. Her arms wrapped around his waist to give him a hug, her chest pressed against his and pushing him away from the door. She confused his meaning, taking his words literally. âI want you to look up to me, everyday. I want to see your eyes on me alone when I visit you at your home. We will start over. I want to get to know you. And I want you to get to know me. Not Harlow, but Artemis. Not the woman in the books you read, but in the flesh. Will you call me Artemis? I will call you...â It was wrong. It was wrong to try to replace Orion. It wasnât fair for her Huntsman to be compared to someone. But she couldnât let him go before she sorted out the feelings brewing inside her. If he walked out the door, would she miss her new friend, or was she trying to find a replacement of her old one, the one man who brought out these same feelings many years before? I will call you mine. âI will call you, Jongsuk.â Her hands cupped his face, raising herself to kiss his left cheek, slightly above the jawline. A resurgence permeated through her bones. She was finally beginning to feel like a goddess in Seoul. It was time for Jongsuk to truly meet Artemis, unmasked. It was past due for her to know the real Jongsuk, if he truly will let her. âThe first time I met you, I had you tied up on a chair and sedated you. Iâm sorry.â
no, you are not athena. you were not born gracefully from the head of your shared father. you came out bloody from between the legs of your outcast mother, from that moment burdened with the responsibility to bring forth your brother. you do not belong in olympus, like their darling on her silver throne. apollo is their golden boy, in his golden chariot. you belong to the forests, to the wild beasts you will never tame. you are not athena. you never will be. you had to claw your way up to olympus. you are artemis, wild girl with the wild hair, and the blood of your prey on the soles of your bare feet. no. you are not athena. but you make every head in olympus turn your way.

I want to be in love but im scared at times i dont even know if love is even real..
Golden
Hyuna watched the girl think and thought sheâd order another drink in the meantime so she did. Thinking of all these things reminded her of the fact that she hadnât actually seen her boyfriend in a few weeks. The pang in her chest hurt as she thought about how much she missed him and longed to know where he was and if he was ok. She sighed a little and then looked up again when Harlow began to speak and listened to her. ââŚâŚ..love to me is effortless. It just happens because it was meant to. Kris and I just sort of fell together at the right moment and we just went with it because it felt right. it felt natural. Being with him, talking to him, being embraced by him⌠Itâs all justâŚright. Love isnât just about making sacrifices, itâs about mutual respect and support and admiration. Itâs about finding security and trusting someone so much that you donât even think about hesitating when youâre telling the truth or pouring your heart out. Things happened really quickly for us but every love, every relationship is different. It may take years for one person or a day for another. I used to have a hard time believing that love existed, too⌠I was discouraged for so long because of the circumstances of my life. I would throw myself around for attention and warmth but it wasnât real. Being a huge slut doesnât fill the void of loneliness and coldness and neither does ostracizing yourself from possible interaction, either. Iâve tried both. Kris made me believe in love again with how he takes care of me and supports me and just gets me⌠Heâs gentle and kind to me, which means so much to me⌠*swallows hard looking down at her hands, her eyes burning with threatening tears but she does her best to keep them at bay* I got lucky. Very, very lucky to find him and to be loved by him. Thatâs where sacrifice comes in because Iâd do anything to keep him in my life and to make him happy. I love him that much. *drinks a big sip of her mojito and clears her throat* iâm sorry, that got a little deep. Is there anything else youâre wondering?
She sounded like Aphrodite when she spoke about love, persuading the huntress how beautiful it was, though the goddess never took her step-mother seriously because half the time she was always galavanting with other men besides her husband. But the underlining meaning of love being effortless was the root of her speeches to Artemis and only now, with the mortal idol before her, did she start to somewhat understand how love should be easy. Anteros, god of unrequited love, and son of Aphrodite and Ares, once told her love had to be answered in order to prosper. It seemed that Hyunaâs love had been answered, and she was truly happy for her. âIâm so sorry, if I had known you were someone, I wouldnât have asked you to seduce the man earlier.â Harlow bowed and showed sympathy in her eyes.
âI donât think I am the type to be in love. I am selfish. I am stubborn. I crave for my independence. And I wouldnât be a very good lover.â She laughed at her last statement. Being a virgin meant the most she could do to show actual affection towards any lover would be cuddles and hugs. Here this mortal was, speaking to the goddess of chastity and independence about love and longing and trusting another. It was a difficult pill to swallow. But it helped her come to the realization her feelings for her Huntsman was indeed unrequited. âDonât apologize. Youâre face was so much brighter when you spoke of your lover. Is that the kind of feeling you get, when thinking of him? Happiness. Joy. But I also saw some sadness in your eyes.â In her current state, during the last meeting with Jongsuk, she felt so sad and so vulnerable. She hated those feelings. She vowed a long time ago to not let a man make her feel insignificant and feel so out of control of her own thoughts and actions. âLove isnât always happy, is it?â Love can be dangerous in Artemisâ eyes.Â
Just One Peek
Before heading home Harlow couldnât resist the urge to find her Huntsman and watch him from afar. Soon Noctis and her would be heading to Venice to follow a lead on her brotherâs whereabouts. They hoped to catch a glimpse of the sun godâs vessel when he traced his amulet in the hands of jeweler who recently visited Seoul. She tucked her hair into a loose bun and kept the hood of her jacket over her head while the cashmere scarf covered her entire face but her eyes. She spotted him near a parked car conversing with a familiar face, the idol she and Noctis had a run in early last week. To know the two were connected didnât sit well with the goddess. It also gave her a bit more perspective on their connection, the organization who was also hunting Jongsuk down. They seemed to be having a deep conversation, and Harlow didnât bother to listen in. Seeing him caused her chest to hurt, seeing them together made her chest hurt even more. She promised herself one peek, and it was what she allowed herself to have.
A loud alarm from the car she leaned on caused her to jump, finding a way to shut the darn thing off so as to not have the two spot her from spying. The owner of the vehicle came out of the shop and turned off the alarm, ands apologized for causing it to set off. She didnât turn around to face the two, the Huntsman and the idol. Clearly the two had a lot of history, again, based on her assumptions. If the organization was after Krystal too, then Jongsuk and her at least had each other to protect one another from heir attacks. Harlow apologized once again to the carâs owner and walked towards home with her head low and heart heavy. The last time she felt this way was with when she said her final goodbye to Orion. Her first mortal huntsman who lit up the sky to this day.

.He nodded and it wasnât nothing but a sincere thought of him. Noctis have began seeing her more than someone he had to protect, but also caring for her since he really cared. But the definition itself about his feelings, the God still had no idea of what it was. â You donât have to mention it Harlowâ he said and looked up at the time.
âGo get your coat and Iâll meet you down stairs okay?â he caressed her shoulder before walking out the room first.
Noctisâs quick dismissal of Artemis and reminder of who they were and how their lives were sown together, snapped her back into reality. The two were in a mission and together they had to bring her brother back or chaos would ensue in grave proportions. She put on a cute undergarment set, something she could easily wear under any outfit. Of course the bra and panties had to match, despite the fact sheâd be the only one seeing it via the reflection of herself on the mirror. She found a blush pink wool coat that flared out like skirt and with soft pleats which made it seem like a dress. She wore practical shoes though. Stilettos could be found everywhere in the high end shops of Venice. She put on ankle scarves to keep her legs worm, she could always cuddle with Noctis if ever she got cold, then wore her slip-on canvas shoes in a cute metallic gold. A part of her wanted to ride a plane, first class, with champagne in her hand, but Noctisâ ability to teleport made things much more efficient. Harlow skipped with lighter steps down the stairs and jumped on Noctisâ back, hugging him with her arms draped over his broad shoulders. âIâm ready my wolf.â

They way the Goddess spoke in sadness irritated The prince of Darkness. He hated the fact that a mere human made her cry like that. If Harlow didnât see him as a friend, Noctis would already flee to make sure that guy wonât ever make her sad again. But he didnât do or say anything besides in his own mind.
He let Harlow lean on him, he preferred that way anyway. âYou can always make a new friend Harlowâ he said as he turned, offering her his chest instead. âThose humans arenât like us, you know itâs hard for us to understand them as he also probably had a hard time to understand us too.âÂ
She caught her breath, and breathed in his calming scent when he turned towards her, with her face buried against his solid chest. Harlow was beginning to notice the little inflections in his tone of voice when speaking about her Huntsman. He was not her Huntsman anymore, she sadly admitted to herself. He never was hers. Noctis knew what to say, giving her advice about human and gods. He hoped he was different, but for the moment she needed to focus on their mission. She wiped her tears and looked up at the tall god. âWe should go to Venice already. We can follow the lead of the woman who has possession of Apolloâs amulet.â Artemis hugged her wolf tighter and smiled, thankful for the friendship he reciprocated. âThank you Noctis, for always being here for me.â

To say if he was affected by what she saidâŚThere was no clear way to explain it. The way they always were around each other, in any form and any condition Nox have learned to suppress his own feelings and his own needs whenever Harlow tempted him, even without her realizing it. âNo, I told you that I will not wear that againâ
He raised his thick brow, the curiosity grew more. âOh so you are still seeing that Huntsman?â he said in a more bothered tone while looking away. For a reason there was this funny feeling he had been feeling, but it was very uncomfortable. It was something he never felt before. But it always appeared every time this Huntsman of hers was involved.Â
A small pout appeared on Harlowâs lips, she really wanted to see him in his boxers. Nudity and anything close to it werenât a big deal to immortals Grecians so long as there was no malice to it. She looked at Noctis and appreciated his heavenly form more so than other immortal and mortal men. And at the same time she was fully aware of the slight elevation of her heart rate when she did see him in his nakedness. She was always able to quench it by thinking of him as her fluffy wolf. Zeusâ promise to keep his daughter free from such thoughts was wearing thin. He knew it when Artemis turned of age. But Zeusâ daughter was strong and only until she arrived to Seoul was her will tested.Â
The thoughts of Noctis in his dinosaur briefs were sidelined when she heard the irritation in the godâs tone of voice. âActually...I donât know. He and I had a fight, I tried to forget about it and think of the happier moments with him before we left the bath.â She sighed a little then ran to him with tears welling in her eyes. She hugged him from behind and wiped her tears on the back of his shirt not caring the discomfort of soaked tears could be. âHe told me I was like this other woman who tried to change him. I was also very selfish and didnât know anything about him and only looked at him at face value, never actually knowing him. He was wrong and right, but I didnât have the energy to explain...I lost a friend, Noctis.âÂ
