WRITING TASK: If your character is new to Merritown, write a journal entry or para detailing their first impressions of the town and the people they’ve met, why they moved, and what they hope to experience from this move. No para length required.
Merritown, as the town's namesake would imply, gave Harley Ormsby a joy he hadn't felt in... ages, it would seem. He honestly couldn't remember the last time he felt this, well, merry.Â
----Which was a bit peculiar, in that he'd only really been living in the town for about a week or two, and he wasn't officially settled (hell, his apartment wasn't completely unpacked yet). But it felt like home here already. He liked his apartment (much nicer than the one he'd grown up in) and he loved his job.Â
He even liked the townspeople he's already encountered-- Basil, Odette, Ashton, Mason, Atlas... Harley had never known a town where each resident was friendly and welcoming. (His past homes - the unfriendly part of Chicago and jail - meant he met more than a fair share of menaces) He'd even been a menace himself, at one point.Â
But that was in the past. If there is one thing Harley promised himself - it was to only look forward. Focusing on the past had only caused him grief; he knew that the staple of recovery was the acceptance of who and where you are at the present moment in time. He wouldn't want his past demons to hinder his self-progress, or interfere with his new life in Merritown. Having a fresh start is the reason why he decided to move to a suburban life in the first place.Â
