chapter one: the ui.

mastodon is kinda like an evil combination of twitter and tumblr without its algorithm. its considered a decentralized social media! so you need to follow tags/users to be involved!

as a heads up there are NO dms and there is a character limit of 500

introposts are still a thing on mastodon, but because of the character limit they cannot be as pretty as ours here. which is why i recommend having a long intro on your tumblr and a shorter one on your mastodon.

you are also able to pin multiple posts (they will pin in chronological order, so keep that in mind. earlier ones will stack atop of older pins)

my intro! i used emojicombos for kaomoji dividers. heavily recommend that as you cannot use a top divider on mastodon. all images will go to the bottom of your post.

under privacy, turn these off. similar to why on tumblr you turn likes/following off.

there IS a post limit which seems to be 450 in 6 hours. though youre only temp banned/limmed for 3 hours which isnt bad whatsoever. (source i am the fastest jiraidonner)

notification sound only happens on the web version (pc and mobile) not the app version found on app/playstore!

chapter two: how it all works

jiraidon in specific is really overstimulating. somewhere in settings you can turn off the notif sound but im blanking as on where. TAKE BREAKS if it gets too much. its much more comparable to a group chat or a really active discord (there is a slow mode in settings btw)

because its like an evil combo of twitter and tumblr, more tags do NOT equal more reach. in fact you should typically use few if you want to have a longer post.

jiraidon uses most of the tags found on jiraiblr! personal tags ALSO work on the don

this is an example of my tags, jiraiboygod being my personal (context is originally i pasted my tags too close to the phrase "god i love my girlfriend" and i forgot to remove the god part)

when new jirais join, we will often use the tag welcomejirai!

speaking of welcoming jirais, lets move on to the people of mastodon

chapter three: respecting those who came before you

similarly to the red note/tiktok situation. original users of mastodon were quick to welcome us and point us in the correct direction. the app is incredibly localized, and the blocking system works fantastically (better than tumblrs but thats a low bar)

once again im encouraging people to block people they dont like/dont get along with. don't try to stomach another user for the groups sake, just block them and move on.

and if you get blocked do NOT take it personally, a lot of situations or blr and don can be avoided if people were more aware that sometimes people just block others!

as funny as it was for me to "threaten" the devs during the original invasion, i have talked to some of their moderators. they are extremely chill with us being jirai. however we are to use the content warn system. for our TRIGGERING content.

there is an option to keyword posts just like tumblr! under filters in settings.

"what does jiraidon og mean? do i qualify?" a jiraidon og is someone who was on jiraidon during the first 24 hours of its creation/someone who partook in the original spam.

even if you dont qualify as an og thats okay.

the content warning is the danger symbol, it looks like this. (if you are on the .ph instance, your content warning will be an eye)

anyone found to be not using content warnings for their triggering posts will likely be taken out back and shot by the moderators. they have made it clear to us about how strict they are.

i typically content warn all my vents because lwk sometimes people dont wanna see that shit, and theres no punishment for tagging appropriately unlike tumblr.

ON SH SPECIFICALLY. for the love of god DO NOT say "fake, ai, makeup" for cuts. not only will i personally be blocking you for that one, its incredibly deceptive in nature.

#shdon is currently the tag people are using to tag their cuts/self harm behavior. i am not getting involved in their space as its not only not my thing, i cant really handle gore. DIRECT CONTENT WARNS. DO NOT BEAT AROUND THE BUSH. remember to SAY image if itll contain an image and SAY vent if its just a vent.
