sclitudeâ:
this canât be happening. it shouldnât be happening. kuruk has far too much on his plate now to even consider entertaining this. especially given the fact that it doesnât make sense. kuruk just canât - comprehend the idea that poe would want anything to do with him now. itâs not as though anyone ever has. itâs just not - how things work, for knights of ren.
kuruk canât let himself believe it. because if he does, if he lets himself feel what heâs been burying since he broke things off, and it all goes wrong? kuruk has no idea what heâll do.
âstop it, just -â kuruk starts, intending to argue, to push poe away as much as he can because he canât do this, neither of them can, this canât happen - and then poe takes his hand, and the knight freezes in shock. not only that poe would do so, but because - because it feels nice. because he missed how comforting it is. because he missed⊠poe.
âdonât - donât do this -â he wants to fight, he wants to leave, but poeâs eyes are fixed on his and theyâre - theyâre warm and theyâre comforting and theyâre hopeful. everything kuruk knows he doesnât deserve. shaking his head, kuruk squeezes his eyes shut, willing himself to pull his hand away. it should be easy. so why isnât it? âeven if i believed you - this canât work. you know this canât work.â
poe was glad kuruk didnât pull away. he expected it, and... well, wouldnât bllame him. poe might do the same in kuruks situation but kriff, this was just reminding him of before. the warmth and.. rush of what it felt like. sighing some, he took his other hand for a second.Â
he was right. of course he was. how would a knight and resistance pilot ever work but... kriff if poe didnât want it to. he shook his head some, pulling kuruk into his arms, holding his breath some, desperately not wanting to let go. âi.... i want this to work. we can, we can make it.âÂ
