Drew this after completing the 3rd game

Diego and Mia went through a shared trauma. her client committed suicide in front of the court. it traumatised her.

she and Diego left that courtroom as changed people. this was Mia’s first trial. it wasn’t his, but I suspect it’s the first trial he’s had like that. Terry Fawles is a terrible, unforgivable person. he’s a predator. but regardless of how “good” or not they are, watching someone die in front of you will change you. and Mia and Diego shared that experience.

I truly think that Diego was Mia’s rock while she was trying to process that case. he’s the only one who knew what she’d been through. and I don’t think he pushed for a romantic relationship, I think it was more like when Kate Barlow told Sam her heart was broken in Holes, and he offered to fix it. he loved her, yes, but the initiation was all on her. Diego, I think, saw how much this affected Mia, and while he was attracted to her, he had more sense than to push for anything. Diego is an intelligent, conscientious person. he has his over-confident, arrogant exterior as Godot - he’s hurting. he’s a man who’s lost everything.

does he put it on a bit when he’s working (and flirting) with Mia? yes. have you ever been hit on by a cis man? because I have. nothing he did is out of the ordinary and Mia sees that. there is no way in hell that he’s the first man to hit on her. she sees him chancing it and gets on with her work.
