This family connection further reminded me of when people see their families donated organs at work in someone else. This article talks about an organ donor's family hearing the donated heart beat for the first time. I've also seen videos of this which make me experience these emotions as well and it helped me to understand the connection the kids may have felt with their mothers cells.

This article talks about those effects and why it is so important to stop the abuse before the pattern is restarted. It also makes me wonder what would have happened if the children had spoken up and maybe how it could have been beneficial for their family relationships today.

This article talks about how because of the healthcare system then and now many African Americans are in poorer health. This is because they can not afford treatment causing them to not do the treatment and often times deterring them from going to the doctor all together. This all is connected to money and class in America and you can see that little has changed since Henrietta's time.

This article talks about what the book taught the medical world about limits. It states that because of Henrietta's  story the medical world has re-thought about it's policies when it comes to respecting patients' privacy. There are new rules in place in order to prevent doctors from hiding things from patients' families. Furthermore, I thought about if this rule had been around during Henrietta's life, would her family have agreed to share her cells with doctors?

This article talks about why blacks do not trust the healthcare system. It states that blacks today still have some of the same fears Henrietta had. They fear that the system doesn’t always do what's best for them. It is even proven to be true by a fact that says “In many cases, when blacks have the same diseases as their white counterparts, blacks are much more likely to die sooner.” This is because blacks are still alienated in society even in recent times. Even now people still have to deal with the same fears Henrietta did.

Going to concerts are some of the best memories I have. Just like music concerts are an art form. Everything the performer does affects how the crowd feels. When the crowd sings along it affects the performer. Art is something that makes you feel and overwhelming emotion. Concerts are so good at doing that. During the concert you feel all the joy of singing along with your favorite artist. And after the concert you feel the longing to be back inside with the singer. Concerts are an art form you never get sick of. I went to a Bazzi concert over break and I still have post concert depression. It was one of the most amazing nights of my life so far and I will remember it forever. Concerts are probably the best art form that I have experienced and I can’t wait to keep going back to more.

Another form of art that I think is really cool is street art. Over the summer I went on an architecture tour of Detroit and saw these beautiful works of art. I think street art is so cool because of how it can change how a building feels. Buildings that have been previously considered boring can be changed by some spray paint. It changes how the street feels and the buildings around it feel. Street art also is so unique because of how it connects with a city. The second picture is a woman but also part of it is a city scape probably representing the Detroit. You most likely will never see two of the same piece of street art twice. That’s the main reason it’s so cool to me you only get to see it once in a lifetime.

one thing i consider a work of art is soccer. All sports are beautiful and artistic but i personally connect with soccer the most. i have been playing soccer since i was 3. that’s about 14 years of my life playing the game. it’s crazy how many life lessons i have learned from the game, and how many new people i have met. soccer has this way of moving that is so interesting to me. the moves you make on and off the ball are so important to the game. the way you kick a ball is an art. i often see or create great plays and can here people say that was beautiful and it truly is. the time and practice behind every pass and dribble is crazy to me. i believe art should have an impact on your life in some way. soccer had definitely done that for me. i am so blessed to be able to play the sport almost everyday and can’t wait till the next beautiful game.

The education system is designed in a specific way. The system says graduate high school, go to college, and finally get a job. Despite what school is supposed to help you do I find myself often wondering if most of the knowledge  I have gained is worth knowing. At this age I have an idea of what I want for my future and although that may change I am pretty sure chemistry is not involved. Yet I still show up to class everyday. I used to get really angry knowing I may never use the things they teach me in school. Now I see that school can be more than just a means to an end. I now see each class as a sort of trial and error, all those errors will lead me to true passion in life. I may not become a chemist, but the kid sitting next to me might. And if I never was in that class then I would still be confused on what I want and so would they. If I am not exposed to all these new ideas than I would’ve never found out I love architecture or photography. I want my education to open my eyes to all the crazy wonderful things there are in this world. That way when I find my passion I can make some crazy wonderful things that will inspire others to do the same. Thats what I want. I want my education to show me how to inspire. I want my eduction to provide me with the means to be able to have a joy filled life. I want my education to provide me with the freedom to be happy. After all thats why I keep showing up to class everyday.
