attention tally hall fandom!!
everybody knows that bora is the extra, spiritual “sixth tie” in the band and we all love him dearly, but what you DON’T know is that there was actually an additional tie at one point! (or maybe you did know, i just wanted to make a THIS reference)
(you may also know him as “IT’S F**KING BANANA MAN” guy from boralogue XIII)
in 2010, joe had to back out of tally hall’s tour with jukebox the ghost & skybox for personal reasons. the band didn’t want to cancel their entire tour, so they got casey to step in and cover for him as their “black tie”. a lot of newer/more casual fans have no idea that it even happened or know very little about it because that tour wasn’t documented in the boralogues nor was there much fan-recorded footage either
if you’re a musician yourself you know that learning a lot of instrumental & vocal parts on a time constraint is a HUGE responsibility. joe is obviously intimately familiar with the tally repertoire, but casey had to learn a TON of songs from a relatively blank slate, which i feel like he never gets enough credit for!
SO, here are some videos of him performing with tally hall for your viewing pleasure
(an acoustic rendition of ”The Bidding” ft. a goofy little interactive intro over “A Lady”, where their PA system stops working and the only amplified sound that they can get through is zubin’s bass?? the whole audience sings and snaps along & they still kill it!!)
(my personal favourite version of “Just a Friend”, where rob’s mic stand breaks and he has to hold the mic up for both him and zubin :,) the mid-song banter in the middle is hilarious and the ending is mildly confusing but intensely delightful)
(”Life in a Cube”, one of Casey’s originals. he and rob and zubin have the most beautiful vocal blend!! i want to cry!! also rare footage of the tallies performing out of uniform!!)
(”Because”, with SPEAK as well! this wasn’t actually during the tour where he stood in for joe but it’s just. so. good. aaaa)
here is a SPECTACULAR studio cover he did with the tallies of “Club Can’t Even Handle Me”, ft. rob’s iconic white boy rapping
here are some of his solo tracks (each word links to a different song & they’re all good but i highly recommend the last two!!)
in conclusion casey is very important i love him and i hope u do too thank you
