It’s so striking to have these two gifs side by side. Because Blaine looks shattered in the first one. He is completely frozen, his mouth forming no as he watches Kurt walk away and his eyes are desperate. He is devastated. In the second gif, he is sad and hurting but his world isn’t caving in on him. It hurts, but he is not broken. The light in his eyes remains and he looks like he’s working through what happened. The first is a Blaine who didn’t know how to breathe without Kurt and who needs Kurt to anchor him. The second is a Blaine who knows how to live and go on without Kurt, and who is his own anchor. He wants Kurt but he can make it without him. He is secure in his ability to do so.

Kurt Hummel walks away from Blaine Anderson, and Blaine is left standing on his own two feet. He doesn’t freeze. He doesn’t collapse. He doesn’t break. And he does it alone.
