âEh, I donât gamble. I have better things to do. Iâll check that place out though. Thanks!â
âSo.â Miu smiles, one hand on her hip. âI take it you gamble a lot? Thatâs kinda cool.â
âItâs a talent.â Celestia replies in an easy voice, looking down at her scarred hands, admiring her nails for a moment.Â
âIâve continued enjoying myself since Iâve come here. It was easy enough to find a place-- outside of the casino of course. Difficult to gamble where you work.âÂ

âHey, wait up!â
âWhereâd you get that bitchinâ ring? Did you get it around here? Iâve been thinkinâ about wearing rings.â
âPardon?â Celestia stops abruptly, turning a neat about-face to look over this stranger. While the language is crass, the compliment makes her smile ever so slightly.
âI won it, actually. But, I did get it here. Thereâs a jewelry shop in the Golden Ward, the owner is quite willing to take bets.âÂ

Arachnids may not to be insects, but all arthropodsâa phylum, scientifically, although the sentimental side of Gonta likes to think of them as a great big familyâare a special interest of his.
As such, his head turns at the very mention of them. He waits with forced patience until heâs noticed to say or do anything, not wanting to interrupt, and so his relief at being approached is obvious to see.
âYes! Theyâre amazing, and I know a lot about them,â he responds with a smile. Not quite as much as bugs, but heâll have to try his best. âSo maybe I can help! With⌠ah, what is the matter, exactly?â
âOh, delightful.â Celestia does manage a better smile then, hands clasped and head tilted. Gonta is a familiar face, though she doesnât recall much of any previous conversations that they might have had. âI have one at home-- Therese is my Chilean rose hair tarantula. Sheâs quite the little darling.âÂ
At that, she pulls out her phone, tapping for a moment so she can show the other a picture of the creature, who peeks out of her hiding spot with all the curiosity a tarantula can muster.Â
âIâd like to upgrade her living arrangements. I figured a veterinarian would be the smartest individual to ask. But if you know, I wonât argue.âÂ

âOkay, okay, I got a question for ya: would you rather have everything you eat be too salty or not salty enough no matter how much salt you add? Because just thinking about this question put me in such an inconsolable state, I almost punched my friend for messing with me for it.â
âNot salty enough, obviously. There are plenty of other flavors you can use to balance that, unfortunate arrangement, hm?â Itâs an easy question in her mind. But, she finds another. âEverything you eat is excessively sour, or excessively bitter?â

@gentomologist
It had taken a line of conversation, and a bit of hunting around to procure Gontaâs name. However, despite her best efforts, actually finding the man so she could observe for herself proved to be a bit difficult. However, that changed when someone nearby seems interested enough when she asks a local about finding a veterinarian suitable for an arachnid.Â
So, when the person sheâs asking turns out to be useless, Celestia approaches, tilting her head and offering a thin smile.Â
âAnd what about you? Anything useful to say on the matter of spiders?â
1000thblowâ:
â . the cat weighs just as much as it looks, and at least he was prepared for it. it was just this big, massive ball of fur that is now chatting up a storm inside his arms. heâs in love with this cat. heâs gonna fucking steal this cat. â okay, he wonât steal the cat, but i guess it gives him a reason to spend more time with his classmates.
while giving the loaf some chin scritches, he gives a small nod of acknowledgement, âiâll keep that in mind. i like the beefy one anyway. heâs chill. iâve always kinda considered a pet, but i can barely manage feedinâ and takinâ care of myself, let alone the other person âm feedinâ, and a pet.â some extra company would always be niceâŚÂ
he couldnât help but to snicker at the face she made when his âcatâ friend was mentioned. itâs a confusing situation. âheâs alright. i take care of him and feed him when he lets me. a tarantula, though, might be more up my bâ friendâs alley. ainât a fan of bugs, and especially not spiders. thatâs pretty badass though.âÂ
Beefcake looks content to be swept away, kidnapped to some mysterious realm. Celestia herself wouldnât allow it, but she seems to trust Leon to hold onto her cat. Her own smile is this fond thing, and she leans forward to scratch Beefcake between the ears, mumbling a few silly things to the cat, before pulling back into herself and looking less casual. Slips like that happen from time to time, but Celestia is quite good at finding herself again.Â
âTheyâre both quite old. I need to take him to a vet, talk about something for his arthritis. Poor darling.â Those cats are her joy, and itâs obvious by the sheen in her eyes. âPerhaps you can borrow Beefcake on a trial basis.â
âSounds like a cat.â Though, the connection to a person isnât something she totally understands. âAh, who might that be? Youâll have to introduce me. My own friends arenât too fond of my little darling.âÂ

DRUNKEN CONFESSION.
âI am not who I seem.â Her drunk voice is stale, a dry thing that clangs against a metal bowl. Soon enough, Celestia laughs, swirling her whiskey and downing another sip.
âI,â A hiccup. âI am a ward of the state, deemed unfit for where I was born. It does its work on a soul.âÂ

The detective gave a low hum at the sight of those brilliant red hues. His own lingered on the girlâs face before glancing away to focus on nothing in particular. Naturally he noticed someone being watched though it took him longer than it should have. Seems the knowledge was already known. It didnât surprise him, considering who it was. Celestia, that was her name, right? Probably, as Jin didnât really remember names much, nor did they interact back home.
âThat guy over there,â he voiced quietly with a small tilt of his head, violet orbs focusing on someone nearby. Not quite suspicious, but enough to draw attention. âDonât think âs particularly dangerous, though..if I remember right, ya donât mind that, do ya?â
Itâs impulse that makes her nearly snarl at the figure thatâs lurked too close for too long. Sheâs used to being stared at, and doesnât particularly mind. After all, sheâs an odd looking sort, and well, Celestia appreciates the particular attention that she can claim for herself. Her skills warrant this, after all.Â
âI see,â her voice is curt, bright eyes locking on to the figure whoâs doing a terrible job of being subtle, now that sheâs managed to make decent eye contact with him. âShame, thereâs such a lack of competency in the world nowadays. You could see the fool a mile away.âÂ
She glowers, turning her head ever so slightly. âPerhaps I should tell him to cease and desist. Itâs not even subtle.âÂ

âYer bein' watched.â
âIâm aware.â She speaks in a low voice, turning around once so piercing eyes can track over the otherâs face. Celestia Ludenberg does not miss out on much.Â
âBut ah, I value an outside opinion. Just who is watching me?â
âlooking for trouble, are we?â
Late Night Wanderings
âWho? Me?â She tilts her head, and gives this stranger a serene look. The smile she offers is painted on, much like what a doll has. Celestia is good at those sorts of games, and adjusts her stance so sheâs standing proud and tall, a knife hidden in her sleeve.
âIâd say that Iâm just trying to walk home alone. Is that so threatening?â Her tone grows annoyed, a vague sneer starting on her mouth. âI donât take kindly to being bothered frivolously.âÂ
âI know where Iâm going.â
Late Night Wanderings
âIâm sure you do, Togami-kun.â Celestia speaks gently, holding off that note of sarcasm that threatens to make this less friendly. So, she manages a small laugh, and folds her hands together.
âBut, if I recall. That street is under construction. Theyâre pouring concrete, and I assume you have no desire to ruin your shoes. So let me show you the alternate route, I insist.âÂ

âWhat are you doing out this late?â
âThis part of town isnât a good place to be at this time of night.â
âNow whatâs a pretty thing like you doing in a place like this?âÂ
âYou do realize what time it is, right?âÂ
âWhere are you going at this hour?âÂ
âThe sun isnât rising anytime soon, you know.âÂ
âDo you know where I am?âÂ
âThe city looks different at night.âÂ
âThis street is very darkâŚâÂ
âWhy donât you come stand in the light?âÂ
âAre you lost?âÂ
âI got turned around in the darkâŚâÂ
âThis isnât the time to go wandering around.â

âLooking for trouble, are we?âÂ
âA little late to be shopping.âÂ
âJust coming back from the bar?âÂ
âThink any of the pubs are still going to be open?âÂ
âTrouble lurks around every shadowed corner.âÂ
âWoah! I didnât see you there!â
âWhere did you come from?âÂ
âWhat are you doing here?âÂ
âA bold move to show your face here in the shadows of night.âÂ
âGo home.âÂ
âIt isnât safe here at this time of night.âÂ
âYouâre being watched.âÂ
âWhat are you doing still up?âÂ
âLooking for something?âÂ
âI like walking when the streets are empty.â
âItâs dangerous to walk at night alone.âÂ

âŚYeah, this girl definitely didnât need her help. Kaede could tell that this girl was a survivor. Poised, calm, collected. She reminded her a bit of Maki Harukawa. The way she seemed to be in utter control of herself. Was she⌠used to this sort of thing? On one hand, it was a better option than losing it. It was the only reason Kaede hadnât allowed herself to break down. She didnât want to inconvenience those who could fight.
On the other hand,it was kind of⌠sad. Maybe the pianist was too hopeful. She wanted everyone to be happy. To live their lives. She was rather naive, when it came down to it. She was still struggling to come to turns with that fact. No point to it, at the moment. She should focus on her survival first.
ââŚRight,â she agreed, watching the other girl swiftly handle the⌠creature. It was still hard to process that this was⌠happening. That it was real. âThank youâŚ,â she tented her fingers together, âIâll try not to get in your way.â
Admittedly, Celestia isnât feeling her best. But, sheâs trying her best. Itâs luck thatâs made sure she hasnât been hurt, but sheâs still a decent fighter, moving with grace despite her unconventional weapon. Blunt weapons, and the display of strength they require, arenât typically for a dainty sort like her. But, when she made due, she continued with an old habit that didnât die, not even hard.Â
âI doubt you will. You look petrified.â Her voice is steady, Celestia turning to look at the stranger with a glimmer of a smile. When her sleeves call back, there are visible burn scars, the odd lines on her fingers from her time in capture. She is no stranger to the odd.Â
âSo,â Celestia puts the hammer down, though the handle still remains in her grasp. âHave you found somewhere safe, or are you still floundering? You donât seem like a fighter, as harsh as that may sound. Itâs all over your face.â

There was something about her⌠she looked dark. She felt like some of the others at the institution Michael grew up in. She felt dark. But she was young, and it was Halloween, and Michael was ready to kill.
Heâd spent an hour or two watching her, observing her graceful way of moving, the way she looked on at others like she was better than them. Perhaps she was, in some ways. She was beautiful, and she stood out from the crowd of teens in short skirts and low-cut tops. The children wearing over the top costumes looked out of place, but her, in her elaborate outfit, she looked like she belonged on Halloween night as much as Michael did.Â
Finally he decided he was done watching. She turned a corner, and Michael was there. If she didnât pay attention, she would walk right into him. She wouldnât see him until it was already too late. Until his knife was held above her head, ready to strike.
Celestia Ludenberg, above everything, is observant. She is a master of trickery, of the strange and the unusual. Sheâs the sort to keep poison in her pockets, bits and pieces of witchery. Above all else, she is crafty and oh so dangerous. It is because of that, that she hides a weapon in the folds of her dress, that metal headed hammer that sheâs used to kill men before.Â
She plays no games, shows no fear. And so, she shows none as she moves through the crowd, hair pinned and no layer of her skirt out of place.Â
And because she is observant, Celestia Ludenberg sees that knife, and the man wielding it and steps back, offering a smile thatâs halfway to a sneer, a hand drifting to her skirt to ready the weapon. A small step back, but she doesnât scream for help, doesnât panic or do as most young women might. Instead, she speaks, curt and annoyed.
âMy dear, I am already dead. There is no game here.â A lie, to a certain degree. She is dead, yes, but this Celestia moves and breathes and feels. Itâs a sort of purgatory. âI suggest you move along.âÂ
