“Ah-haha, you really think so? Funny, I just thought how well it suited a dirty cum toilet of a person like you are, to be besties with Monokuma himself.” Even though Kokichi did try to conceal it, he was still a little shocked by the fact that she really knew now about some big part of his true identity. It really must have been Monokuma that shared that secret with her then. But why would he? She must have given that bear something first, just to make it worthwhile for him to talk to her at all… Would she really go that far? Was helping that metal bear, that brought them all into that situation they were in in the first place, really worth it? All that, just to get some kind of revenge on him? Honestly, he was curious to know, and he wouldn’t let go until he will get all the puzzle parts he desired.

“How much would you hate it, if I’d say he lied to you? Huh, huh? Would you cry? Would you? What did you pay him for that kind of stupid info anyways? I’m sure it wasn’t cheap to get someone like him to help a dumb sow like you out. Wow, Iruma-chan, you fell really low, and that means a lot when I’m the one saying that, y’know!”

“Hiiiii--” Another squeal escaped her. “D-dirty... cum toilet...?” She exhaled sharply. Fuck, why did he always know exactly what to say? It would be so infuriating if she weren’t caught up in the moment. (It was still a little irritating.)

“Y’see, he... the city put some kinda c-covers on his claws, a-a-and he wanted ‘em off, s-so he came to me...” She wrings her hands together nervously. “Obviously I wasn’t gonna do that for free, and... I-I’m really not that desperate...!” As if her feeble argument would convince him.

If he told her Monokuma had lied to her... the thought had briefly occurred to her, though she’d paid it little mind. Quite frankly...

“I did hunt down a lost pet once, for a girl. She gave me chocolates afterwards. That’s not the reason I did it though, don’t call me a pervert Miu if you make fun of me I will cry on you.” Shuichi meant it as a joke, but that would probably be the actual result. Even with his hat off, he did not feel much like standing up for himself. There was not much there to defend in the first place. He played with his fingers for a moment before looking back up at her. 

Shuichi in fact did have to worry about murder since his only skill involved solving murder mysteries and he was not sure how else he would support himself as a detective. But, he decided not to disagree with Miu too much. If they argued he would probably lose, and she was one of his valued classmates after all. He was just happy to have her around. 

“How about you come along and help me with my detective business? You know in movies detectives have all sorts of cool gadgets. You could make me some, and that’d be some free advertising for you as well. Ah-I’d pay you of course it’s not like I want you to work for just exposure.” 

Miu exposed herself enough already. Shuichi thought it but did not say anything. If he said something like that in front of her, despite not being in the killing school he was pretty sure he would barely escape with his life, plus it was a little mean. 

He’d cry on her? Was that the weird kinda thing he was into? She would’ve asked, but she really didn’t want him blubbering all over her if he was serious. It was a little hard to tell with him, sometimes. Thankfully, he was quick to move on from that topic, going on about her making gadgets for him. It sounded like a pretty sweet gig, if she was being honest. She liked inventing, and she liked Saihara, even if he was a total wimp. Anything to help out a friend. (Friend? Were they friends?)

"Maybe I could invent something to help you find that tiny dick of yours!” She laughed, spitting in his face a little in the process. It couldn’t be helped, unfortunately for him.

That took him more off guard than anything the inventor had ever said to him before. How the hell did did she know about DICE? There was no logical explanation for that, at least none that he could think of. Of course, he could easily say now, that he never heard of that name before, but unfortunately that wouldn’t lead him to the answers he wanted to hear from her really badly right now. She must have heard it from someone else, but who? The skilled liar didn’t enjoy getting cornered like that (and from her of all people, too) so before he said anything, he tilted his head a bit and gave her a mistrustful glare. 

“Okay, okay, you’re lucky I don’t feel like lying right now, so for this once, I’ll bite. How did you hear of that name before? And better spit it out right away, squid breath. If you won’t, there’s no way you’ll ever get any answers to your questions for me, y’know!” 

She allowed herself a smirk. She finally caught him off guard, and it felt fucking amazing. It was a bit disappointing that he wasn’t visibly freaking out, but she supposed that was to be expected. For one brief moment, she’d had control over the conversation. He was pretty quick to take it back, though, and she held her hands to her chest as if to protect herself from his biting words.

“M-Monokuma told me.” Miu’s smirk returned. The truth was just too funny. Her voice still lacked her usual confidence, though.

And she was never one to mince her words, that was another thing about Miu that Rantaro wouldn’t be forgetting any time soon. He figured whatever impression he made on her was fleeting anyway, it was his own decision to search around the school instead of socializing with his classmates and while he wished that he spoke to them more, he knew that his anxiety wouldn’t have let him sit still long enough to pretend like he couldn’t do something that might help all of them. At the end of the day, it was useless, but it was a decision he would make again in that situation. 

“Yeah, I really messed up that time, huh?” He chuckled, this was a good time to ask about the game. “Did a lot happen after that? I’ve been seeing a bunch of our classmates around and I’ve been trying to piece together the story. And well, it’s nice seeing you again, Iruma-san. You been here for long?” 

“’Did a lot happen?’ You wouldn’t believe all the shit that went down!” She didn’t know what anyone else had told him; if he didn’t know anything, she might’ve been willing to give him the short and sweet version. Maybe. There was a lot she didn’t want to get into (involving her own death, mostly - but she could gloss over that part.)

   He’s watching her face for a reaction, while at the same time trying not to seem like he’s staring. Things are always so extra careful around Miu now. The reaction isn’t something he’s entirely sure what to make of, but it doesn’t seem like it’s… too bad.

“Oh,” he starts, a little disappointed at first, but he recovers quickly. “O-oh, that’s! That’s okay. You can do whatever you’d like with it!”

He finds himself tapping his fingers together and realizing, in the silence that follows, that he doesn’t know what to do next. This is the most awkward attempt at friendship–or whatever it is he’s trying here–he’s ever managed, and his nerves and doubts keep getting the better of him. He’d like to do better, but all that blurts out is…

“W-well, you’re welcome, anyway. That’s all I wanted to do, so I’ll go now…!”

“I don’t really need your permission.”

She tucks the box under her arm. She’ll probably just toss it in a corner when she gets back home, assuming she doesn’t toss it completely. Before she does anything else, though, she’s gonna buy something to eat.

“Yeah, if that’s all ya got, then scram! I’m late for lunch.” Miu leaves before he does, though, walking right past him.

Miu had a personality that was hard to forget, even among all the different personalities that Rantaro had the honor of encountering throughout his life before… well, this. That being said, he couldn’t say that he was the best with interacting with her. He admired people with strong personalities and ideals, but sometimes that could make for somewhat awkward conversation. It would be rude to lead off with a question about what happened to Miu also, not to mention intrusive beyond what Rantaro was sure the other person was comfortable with. Even at the Ultimate Academy, he didn’t talk to Miu more than a passing word and introduction. He didn’t give himself enough time to talk to everyone, not with his own goals in mind. 

“Iruma-san… is it?” He offered a small wave to the other person, still testing the waters for a reaction. At least it seemed safer here as opposed to the Ultimate Academy. 

“Not sure if you remember me, but hey. It’s Amami, didn’t expect to see you here.” 

“Amami...” It took her a second, but she jogged her memory pretty quickly. A guy who didn’t remember his own talent was strange and suspicious, but nothing to write home about. He’d been pretty unremarkable overall. Miu couldn’t remember anything worthwhile about him. He was the first to go, wasn’t he? They hadn’t shared more than a cursory introduction, so that was all she really had to go off of. Really, she’d forgotten he existed before now.

“Oh, yeah! You kicked the bucket so long ago, I almost forgot!” Unfortunately, she had none of his thoughtfulness or tact.

“I’m coming..!” Kaede huffed over her shoulder before speeding away into the depths of her home. She grabbed her purse and bag, combed her room for anything else necessary than locked the door. She walked back to the front. “Okay, Iruma-san… I’m ready now.”

“Are you still yapping about that BS? You never wanted to escape for ‘the world’, you just wanted to reach your own selfish goals, and didn’t care for anyone but yourself! Please, spare me from the hypocrisy that keeps coming out from your nasty mouth!” Another deep sigh left his lips. Really, at this point he barely didn’t want to waste another breath on her. 

“Does it really matter what the outside world looked like? It’s not like you could change anything about it! Neither here and now, nor back then, y’know! Stop overestimating yourself and know your place!”

“B-b-but-- it’s true! I coulda done... so much... Even if I can’t do anything about it now...” She trailed off nervously. It was a struggle to keep going, even when he wasn’t at his most vicious. Miu grit her teeth, though. He’d have to try a lot harder to get her off his back.

“I-it does matter! I have a right to know! Especially if it was so bad that you killed me for it! The leader of DICE would never kill if he didn’t have a good reason, would he?”
