Officer Tamakawa

“Ah well. Yeah. I didn’t take that into consideration.” He cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his head a little awkwardly. “There’s no other bets I don’t know about is there? You’re not all betting on how long it lasts or anything? Because that one I will need to shut down.”

“Well then you’re definitely chipping in for the new coffee makers.” He pointed out with a soft laugh. “I feel like I should be mad but I guess I’m not. You all had fun and in the end, I did end up with Toshinori.” He tapped his ring off the side of his cup. “I think I would have been more upset finding out when we were still just friends because I didn’t think we were that obvious? I thought I did a good job hiding it.”

He laughs, relieved. “ Fair enough. I’ll shake Tanuma down for his share, whenever he comes out of interrogations. ”

“Thank-you? You were all…betting on me getting together with Toshinori?” He didn’t know if he was upset, or…flattered? That his colleagues cared enough about his personal life to bet on how long it would take for him to start dating his best friend. And Chief Tsuragamae was in on it too? 

“And you won the bet? How much did you win?”

“Sansa–” He steps to block his path to the only door out of the break room and makes a face. “What sorta bet did you and the other officers have going? I know it’s about me cause I can make my own bet on Tanuma being in on it and no one mentioned it to me. If the bets already done with, what’s the harm in telling me?”

Sansa clutches his mug, ears flat to his head. He could, feasibly, jump over Naomasa’s head and through the gap on the door. It would spill his coffee everywhere (mostly on the detective), but he could. That would definitely not go well with his friend, and would waste coffee, so instead he just stares wistfully at the gap with his tail between his legs.

The only reason anyone ever does that is because they can’t answer something he might ask with a lie. So he’s following right behind the younger man. He has the sneaking suspicion that it deals with him because he had no idea about it. “What’s the bet about Sansa?”

He does try valiantly to completely ignore Tsukauchi and focus solely on the mug he’s filling with fresh coffee. Sansa tries, but his body continues to betray him by the way his ears twitch, clearly hearing what he’s said. He could try to pretend to not speak Japanese and start meowing, but that only works with people who don’t know him.

“Well we could split the cost between us. I’ll make Tanuma chip in too. We can get a little precinct pool going and everyone can chip in.” He hummed, taking another sip of his coffee. “What bet? There was a bet going around?”

Just casually leans against the desk, putting his hand on top of the papers so they don’t wind up all over the floor again. “No we can’t arrest him for it but maybe it’s time to lobby for a new machine. One of those single cup ones.”

“Sounds like Tanuma. I don’t think he’s ever filled a pot of coffee in the entire time I’ve known him.”

He takes a long sip from his coffee and clears his throat. “Well another pot was put on after it was emptied, wasn’t it?”

" Eraserhead-san, wh... ”

“Uhh…” He looks down at the mug in his hand. “What makes you think that?”
