With the great Twitter migration, I thought I should finally set up an actual blog for my Sims playthroughs. Here I will be detailing out and recaping my sessions on the Sims. Primally my personal file, which I liken to a big bonzai tree with how itās grown and is shaped.
I play a randomized rotation with every single household thatās within a home. Thank goodness I can keep as many active as I want. I use the limit of 200 and once I hit 175, I knock the active homes down to 150. Might seem like a small cull but quite often, I find myself replaying families Iāve touched rather than finding new ones. Just how the random number god decides to go a lot of the time!
Neighborhood Stories is on and my settings are off for played households. Unplayed are allowed to leave, retire and join careers, move in and out of homes freely, and, most dangerously of all, die in accidents. Iāve already had loads of townies, pre-mades and sims of my own creation fall to Grimās hands. Iāll be reporting on any of the important deaths around and other such changes.
I also play on Long timeframe with aging only for active households, since I touch them all anyway. Everyone else in is a quasi-state of immortality! ...until Grim takes notice.
With a bit of time, Iāll set up a masterpost for all of the tags once I get a few posts going. For now, letās just get the ball rolling!

Things must be bad if they are having to do reputational work like this and from what I understand, that is the case? Your free advertisments, your longterm Simmers, are dropping like flies after all.
So uh, I decided to blitz through the next part of the event in a late night furvor. Whoops! So this'll be more of a report than anything else.
I remember the first half, which was mostly go-to-location and stuff, still being done with Lucas. Also!
Meet Rainbow! She's a cockapoo dog, a mix between a cocker spaniel and a poodle and is very cuuuuute! Within the adoption process, I wanted to get like a Mastiff or a Newfoundland dog, HUGE bulky but very friendly boys because those seem fitting for Lucas, but none of the temperments seemed right.
As for the second phase, well...
It was mostly a massive housing expansion. Even more with me deciding Country Caretaker for the Outdoors aspiration Mila temporarly picked up. 'sides which, Munch did feel like they'd take milk and eggs fresh from the farm and into their home. Though I decided to make it easy for me and made the garden patch into an orchard.
All in all, I do like that this is just highlighting everything you can do outdoors. But it is still one of the less-involved event rewards so far.
it's kinda difficult to talk about "cozy games" because that's an aesthetic and not a genre so its very broad, is it cozy to de clutter an apartment or go on a hike, is it cozy to be action packed or melodramatic or blithely unconfrontational, etc. but I think it's accurate to say that coziness is one of many shorthands that have been developed as an attempt to opt out of ideology, be about nothing. of course with a game made to evoke comfort comes a proclamation of what the author's society considers comfy
witch finding a lost cat in the alps was a cultural turning point, cus she spelled that out. expressly pointedly de-politicizing a text, replacing it with a generalized intentionally generic vibe that is implicitly assumed to be outside of politics for its genericism. taking a white protagonist in a text willing to ruminate on race and power & replacing it with a white protagonist who is white cus it's a fantasy setting and we know what those are supposed to be like, the two races are white and political
people are misunderstanding this very slightly. "cozy" games CAN be political, in fact the thing i was trying to say is that they must be political, and in trying to make something distanced from politics and "the real world" you can extremely easily end up making something unintentionally revealing. depictions of people are political, depictions of landscapes are political, abstraction is political because it is not simply a defiance of representation but a broadening of scope and influence and a narrowing of metaphor towards medium.

Eight days until Laraās birthday! Letās get going!
Hmm. Evidently Cameron could use a vacation day. Hmmmm. Again, I donāt really have any good ideas for him to go to somewhere. ...though actually, perhaps learning some fabrication and other skills in Evergreen Harbor wouldnāt be too bad for him. But thatās another ideas for another time. Donāt feel up for a vacation. Time to go prank someone! To the library! Hey librarian! Time to be pranked! With an air-horn blast to the ear while leaning in close! ...and to add a topper to pranks, might as well prank a toilet and prank the other before I go.
Seems like we have a whim to level up in logic so before we head home, might as well finish that off and his aspiration! Itās why I picked a library to go and prank in the first place. Ohp. Evidently itās time for Lara to head off to work. And head off she shall go! 97 percent on logic from the research machine!? Ah well. Letās head on off to the logic plaza. There are Sims hanging out there that we can challenge for chess supremacy ...well we introduced ourselves to Jay Robles, but they left quickly after. Alas! Annnd aspiration done! Did a bit of thinking on what to do next and Geeks tend to like collecting things so before I switch gears into a family aspiration, might as well try the Collectorās aspiration! But for now, bed!
Hmm. Izzy wants to chat with Rhett. Thatās...her teacher yeah? Interestingā¦ alright, Iāll bite. Might as well have them meet up somewhere. Uhhhh, not the local library, just came from there. Got adoring sentiment. Welp. Might as well befriend him before getting a munch. Heās Self-Absorbed so I wouldnāt think heād be a great role model but you do you Izzy. Well, weāre at the Copperdale library. Best way to make friends is to chat and play chess and so we shall do so! Oh my! Billie decided to ask Izzy to the prom! Well well! Letās do it!
Ooh, we did find out Rhettās ambitious which I suppose is do to casual chatter. Terrified thanks to the storm though. And there he goes. Welp, weāre still hungry so letās head home. Letās see, Lara wants aspiration related stuff, which is homework, which we canāt do until Monday, so letās just check in on Lara. Annnnd sheās sleepy. Poor Lara. Spotlight does not like you. Bed for you and Izzy.
...so I decided to use the leaning poition on Cameron to carve out the fat, (man wish that was a thing IRL) and OH MY GOD. This outfit suddenly does not work. HA! Anyway, whims related to Charity and telling jokes so off to our local watering hole in town since itās late at night. Hmm, no satifsying whims so I suppose itās time to think about aspirations. And thinking about collectables. On the one hand, we do have a spaceship and my immediate thought was Voidcritters but we have an observatory at home. I like the idea of gathering space prints most! Man this day felt like it took forever. I canāt believe itās only now we get-

And so we continue with Cameron in the observatory. Which we only manage to get one space print before needs kick in and I notice a wind turbine needs repair and whoops! Time to go to bed. Right, Laraās got work. Letās get a jog in after eating some ice cream and see if we canāt finally regain passion before heading into work. No? Dang and drat. That fearās kinda annoying me but ah well. Weāll get it cleared soon enough.
Ahhh, but prom today for Izzy! Iām going to have her try on some clothes and write in her diary about crush! Todayās a very big day after all! Today is the day we get closer to Billie! ...evidently the writing about crush only really increases the writing skill. Dang, was hoping for moodlets. Ah well, I suppose thatās what thinking about crush is for. And that moodlet is flirty so letās get extra flirty! Get emotionally prepared for Prom! Noooo! I canāt seem to sweetheart or slow dance with Billie! Noooo! At least I can dance and flirt. Oh, voting is up. Might as well vote for Billie as prom jester and...I suppose Tim as Prom Royalty. And just as I finished voting, the announcements began! Annnd Billie won jester! Wooo!
Afterparty time! Annnd immedately Billie jogged elsewhere. Welp. Uh, I guess go to the restroom first Izzy and see where Billie ends up with her jog. Right at the start, sooooo, letās do a classic! Letās ride the Ferris wheel with Billie!
I knew what I had to do! Smooch! Smooch! And after some more amorous and steamy lines, I knew how else I needed to finish this. āMessing aroundā -ahem- on a Ferris Wheel! And now, with teen girls all steamed up, itās time to finally retreat to bed. At nearly 5AM. MAKING IT TIME FOR-!

Well, with Lara being awake at this time, seems like we can finally focus on her for a moment. Especially since she doesnāt have work! And her whims are to be sad and to fish. ...I think itās finally time for a club gathering! After I garden and make some flowers into a pretty arrangement though! ...or I could just fish in Tartosa. Itās been so long since Iāve been there and I bet it isnāt raining there! Ahh, Tartosa. Such a gorgeous little world. I canāt help it! Itās a personal favorite and pretty much the whole reason I bought the pack in the first place!
We got a crew of a-fish-ionados going on here! Including 2B from the hit game Nier Automata. Should have more random video game characters pop up here and there but how am I to put in the Long Quiet and Princess from Slay the Princess. With great care and Life and Death perhaps. (Though I would give LQ the Shady trait from the recent pack but thatās waaaay down the line) ...also hey, if you want Angelfish, to come Tartosaās ocean pier! I got two in a row and spotted one of the other fisherman picking one up!
After having a munch, decided to go for a jog in the other Tartosan neighborhood. And you know what? It has me thinking. Maybe Laraās life would be better without having a job, where she can persue her love of nature freely and- thanks for popping up Active trait, yeah sure. I am literally having her take a jog here so sure. Back home to take care of Laraās needs and- you know, I was going to have Lara take Izzy to the gym to mentor fitness but nah. We can stay home. Adjust the basement to have some fitness stuff! Now to have an argument and a yelling session to curb a parent being a good friend. No! I am a teen! I must have some distance!
Bed for both Lara and Izzy and that leaves us just the gaming Cameron. Whoās heading int- wait you should take a vacation oh no! Ah well. Ah! Izzy is up at near 4AM! Was wondering the slow down. Letās get some leftovers and then, well, I suppose vibe until school. And with that! Itās time for-!

Did have enough time for Izzy to make a sandwhich for school. She ate breakfast so sheāll likely be fine for lunch but ya never know.
Alright, off to school, and I suppose weāll be doing some studying and some working out at the gym before class. Fair enough, fair enough. Hmm. After math we are still studying for exams. -shrugs- I suppose thatās the being the A-Student. Ohp, talk to faculty. Might as well go for the teacher she adores, Rhett. And now, weāre hungry! Had a feeling this lunch of peanut butter sandwhich would come in handy.
Science class and we have chess after this. Suppose weāll only briefly pop on the computer to try to raise our fun need before heading off. Right, back home and Laraās whim is to have another kid. Nah. Weāll just focus on your aspiration goal of helping with homework.
Night passes pretty peacefully then. You would think Lara would be sad about arguing with her kid after mentoring with homework but nah. Shame we wonāt be really celebrating it thanks to time travel. Day off, social bunny and then bed time! ...Discovery Quests are popping back up again. Ah well, at least the phone one gives Simoleans. After a bath, itās time to go and report to Emit, whoās impressed we managed to get an email out of that time travel. So one game of chess and then weāll head back home.
Hmm. Evidently, the time traveler knew of this email heading towards us and so, we are getting a letter from them! Oh we seem to have some other mail too...Ah. Itās a complete collection plaque for those missing milk cartons. Good to know. The letter says, that they were saving some stuff from the past, to the future and have some fun. It seems like weāll be running into them in timeā¦ but for now, they have stuff to pick up ...theyāre a burgler arenāt they? Ha. Anyway, next goal is to talk to Emit again and so we shall do so, after Cameron gets his beauty sleep.
Right, Izzy wants share ideas so letās talk to- ah. Itās time for chess meeting in an hour. Welp. Weāll chat with teen friends later. Annd now sheās sleepy. Ah well. To bed after taking another day off school with you. Laraās back from work and...she wants to fish! Welp, five fish for Lara! A Kissing Gorumi, a guppy, some upgrade parts and two bass. Thatāll do.

Go to the bar to try to order a drink and the bartender just vaguely hangs around and is not evidently tending bar. Boo! Finally got the drink just as they were heading off though. Making it time to go home and check on-!

Hmm. I was going to have Lara finally get to mentor Izzy in gardening, but we evidently need to have level 2 in gardening skill to do that first. Welp, might as well have her read about gardening first. Cameronās doing a round of hacks, after hacking into the mainframe. Had a whim for practicing programming so time to translate it into that after the hacks. For he is a hackerman after all. And then sleep for him. Ta-daa. Level 2 gardening get so...letās uh, ah. Still wants to share ideas with someone. But alas, sleep beckons for Izzy as well. Right, work from home for Lara. We got designing circuit boards and then designing new computer hardware. Her afternoon is booked up. And with that, day is done for Lara. Time to rest up!
Hmm. Maybe we could actually take some vacation time now. OHP! We have our first burglar! I was wondering if Cameron, as an Oracle, a hackerman extordinare, would have a unique interaction. ...I see not. Dang! Time to call the police! And then, oh- he decided to fight. OH! Well! Sheās flirty upon seeing her but ah, her attempts at flirting are going on a bit too strong. Oh dear oh dear. Billie is not as a nerd as you are, Izzy. Alas and alack. Annnnd chess practice. Even on āsummer vacation,ā canāt escape chess!
Letās see, back to the parents again thenā¦ Cameron wants to- well doesnāt matter what he wants he needs to sleep for work! And Lara wants to flirt with Bella Goth. ...noted. But letās make friends with her instead. Right, friends with Bella made, we only found out that she was a fellow people person. Hmm. Next whim for Lara is...to mourn the dead. Dang. We have no graves. And especially not of that one lady. Mm. Got asked for a trait swap on Lara to be cheerful. Shame that Cheerful happens because needs are usually high. Nah, her being gloomy is CORE! ...hmm. Maybe it isnāt but weāll save that for another day.
Anyway, after a nap, itās time to swarm this place with teens! For itās TV Season Premiere and teens love the tv season premiere. Especially Izzy. So letās invite her teen friends over to watch tv! ...Billie is still in a bad mood but hey, crush moodlet has been refreshed. Teens hanged out, and now bed for all. Expect for Cameron, he has to work as a hackerman. Who leaks spoilers online on unpublished books! ...that endings are so bad itās taken as a bad fanfic. Alas, another troubling day at work for hackerman. Anyway, time for-!

So I am suddenly realizing that Business and Hobbies allows for people to make essentally venues within game. And it's like...
...I already have a text document about venues in-game that the rich and wealthy people in my Sims file, aka everyone over 100,000 in Simoleans, are interested in and invested in keeping within the community.
...there is literally a collection that seems to pull on gatcha mechanics, in that, you pay a very sneaky totally-not-three-racoons-in-a-trenchcoat for boxes of their stuff, and you can get scruffed art from them. (Double Animal Crossing reference) And evidently, it was easy and fine getting scruffed arts before but that one last drop to complete the collection took over an hour of spamming the boxes and I'm just like...

Itās time for the next week of quests for this time-travel questline! First thingās first!
If weāre going to be making a computer into a time machine, then we need an appropriate room for it! A hackermanās room! Now then, let us activate this time travel component!
...oh no! Our computer broke! How dare! Well, letās repair this real quick. And it was truly really quick. Right then, we have goals for eating something, exercising and then asking Emit about all this. Lets...head to the local gym first. Heās in a tense mood so thatāll help out. And with that, itās lunch time. Nab a burg at the seasonal food stall and then to the park! Magnolia Promenade to be precise. Time to chat with Emit again. Annnd itās stormy. As it goes. Thisāll be a hi-bye situation then. And the solution is to evidently overlock the computer first, so it can use all the power. Yeah that sounds about right.
Right. Cameron needs to sleep so, what to do now? Well I suppose we check in with Lara. Sheeeee, wishes to have a child for successful linage. Eh. Youāre more on the 1 on the 1.5 kids per household. So itās reading to a child for the aspiration, which only works if theyāre an actual kid, so skip that. Not having a kid just to skirt around that. And then socializing. Either or, having her gain parenting skill until Izzy is back from chess.
Mm. Izzy is back from chess and man she is grumpy. I guess once she has a bite to eat and a cold shower, Iāll have Lara suggest re-direction. And I will have her take a dip in the local pool. Wish this area was swimable! Ohp! Wait no! Cameron is up! Itās time to overclock a computer! Which is different from normal overclocking. I know! Lara has that and she had a prompt for both the story overclocking and quest overclocking!
Right, everything is set. Now itās time to give ourselves a pep up talk and then play the Sims Archives again. Spot that time-traveler! ...oh dang! Itās time for work. Maaaan. Shame Cameron has to be a hackerman ...wait, weāre done!? Nooooo! Why!? I want to catch a time-traveler! Ah dang it! Welp, new aspiration and odds and ends are a get. Anyway, I guess thatās all for this time sooooā¦

Oooo, glad I got a Genius sim on the case then! Right, next goals are to read the History of Time Travel at the library. (We have that book!?) And then study a historical display at a museum. Weāre back from work and have plenty of energy. To the library!
...so evidently, by someone aiming to travel through time, time became this material object. And that itās speculated that while books, movies, (heh, tv shows made from Sims 3) and video games being windows into the past, others believe they are a form of time travel. Hmm. You do know that the Sims 4 is considered an alternative timeline from the original Sims and the Sims 2 and 3. Wonder if thatās going to be touched in onā¦
Anyway we need some fun and so letās see what fun thing Cameron comes up with an- -gasp- heās going for the computer to play a game. Lo and behold, the Sims Archives volume 2 is available! Letās seeā¦
Mysterious figure spotted! And he has a strange crystal of some sort. All purple-y and broken and a very familiar diamond shapeā¦ weird! Anyway, fun gained. To a museum!
I typically count the Van Haunt estate as museum-lite but I donāt think thatāll work for Cameron. So weāre off on a trip to Brindleton Bay!
...oh dear. Itās not clearing off with this uh, display case with a minaturized version of this island in the center. Uhhh, letās try some art. And if not! PANIC! ...though I think I remember studying historical displays being a Research and Debate skill? Looking through the skills and its...ah! Level 2 Research & Debate! Sh-shouldnāt we have that? Well thatās not good!
Browsing the forums game me some additional ideas and since Cameron needs to eat and sleep at this point, might as well head home.
Ah! Izzyās home and wants to play chess. The chess table is in Cameronās room. The room heās sleeping in. The dad sheās currently feeling hurt by. Leeeets go to the cool chess topiary area in the middle of town! Thatās a fun place to do chess with. And get to know chess teammate Molly while at it. Oh hey, sheās a fellow genius! Letās strike up a friendship!
Right, letās see. Past 8PM, past library time and sheās sleepy so letās head home and do homework before turning in.
Now! Letās see if heading over to Willow Creek or Oasis Springās museum fixes the issue for Cameron not being able to progress in the quest! Ahh, the jazz art of Willow Creek. Annnd it does. Huh. Weird. Would make sense that these were designed by base game lots first and foremost but weird.
