He glanced at John as they sat down, "I mean obviously I'd be the one to teach you and if I was still around I'd still help but.." he shook his head, "It's just a suggestion." He made a noise something like a laugh and began to button his shirt hastily. “Yeah I pass well,” He grumbled, cursing under his breath as his fingers shook and fumbled on the buttons. “Look Burr, I wouldn’t actually hurt you but- don’t fucking tell anyone. I could lose my job or get killed or something,” He said quickly, giving the other man a pleading look. Anxiety rose steadily in his chest as his mind conjured all of the possible outcome of this situation, none of them good.

He nodded in response to the first few words Alexander said, his mouth still a bit agape. He was correct though, he did pass well. He watched his fingers fumbled and was a bit put off by the action, only because he had never seen Alexander show so much weakness. Aaron listened to him, his.. Threat? Was it technically even  a threat if he had clarified he wouldn’t be hurting him? Hardly. He did think about that situation though, Alexander Hamilton, being fired. Would he prosper without the other man in the office? Would he rise through the ranks? But, the thoughts stoppped there. It would be an empty victory. “I.. I won’t tell anyone, Alexander.” he said though the thought rested in the back of his head. “And you’ve kept this hidden.. All this time? No one knows..?”

“Thank you,” Alexander almost whispered, relief showing clearly in his voice. He had been almost completely sure Burr would turn straight around to report him to their superiors. Perhaps Washington would have handled it well, but he was sure most anyone else- especially Jefferson- would at the very least harass him and the worst assault him upon getting their hands on the information. “You’re the only one,” He confirmed with a nod. “I had all of my legal information changed as soon as I turned eighteen so I guess it wasn’t that hard to hide,” He explained, finishing the rest of the buttons on his shirt and ignoring the ache that was starting to form in his ribs. It would be dangerous to wear the binder much longer, but he had bigger problems now.

“I thought I locked it,” He snapped, frustrated by the mans almost condescending words. He let out a huff of air and pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to form his next words eloquently instead of simply lashing out. “I was scared, Aaron. I’ve had threats on my life made for just existing so excuse me for making empty threats out of panic. And you think I don’t know not everyone would react as well as you, all high and mighty? Why do you think I hide who I am, and then quite literally hide just to breathe deeply for two seconds?” His voice had risen slightly and he found himself unable to contain his anger. “You know- I’m sure you want me gone. It would be better for your career. Go ahead and scream it from the rooftops! Alexander Hamilton is a dirty transsexual!”

Alex was an angry crier, and he felt if he didn’t get out of this situation soon he would burst into tears right in front of the other man. “Maybe you’ll get your hollow victory since I’m so loud and irrational,” He hissed, wincing slightly at sudden pain in his chest. Damn Burr for finding him, and damn himself for being to stupid. “And honestly I don’t think you have much of a right to tell me what I should and shouldn’t be upset over. Just- let me get back to work,” He said, anger starting to fizzle into something like resignation towards the end, wiping away unsend tears and massaging his ribs absently to try and ease the pain.

He looked at him and shook his head, “Okay well..” he said and noticed the mans eyes brimming with tears. “Don’t.. be upset, Alexander. I apologize for butting in.” He said and opened the door. “Just.. be more careful.” He said with a nod, “You never know who’s listening.” He said, exiting the bathroom despite still having a need To pee. He sighed lightly, and walked down the hallway, back to his desk and looked down at the paper. His little break had done nothing and if anything he knew what to write even less now. @ask-a-ham

Alexander took a moment to steal himself before returning to his own desk, hardly able to focus or write for the rest of the day. Instead of staying late like he normally would have he actually left on time, catching Burr on the way to his car. “Come get drinks with me,” He said, not phrasing it as a question so much as a demand. He was still paranoid the other man would use his knowledge for leverage at the first opportunity possible, so he thought it best to start trying to win him over. Additionally, he felt almost bad for getting so angry with him earlier in the day. “I’ll even pay for us both,” He added.

Aaron watched the clock the last few minutes of work. He wasn't even considering staying late even a second today. It had been far too eventful. He saw the time on his phone change and he quickly got up, grabbing his keys and walking out to his car quickly. He stopped when he heard a voice and turned towards it, "Alexander?" He asked turning around. He let out a small sigh and thought about the best way to tell him no, but with the offer of free drinks. Well.. he had had a long week, and they were free. He nodded, "Sure." He said licking his lips lightly. "I suppose that would be alright. I'll drive?" He asked with an arched brow. @ask-a-ham
