The moment he’d seen her, he tensed up, eyes looking her over slowly and eyebrows raising. He didn’t think he’d ever seen her looking quite so… beautiful. Sure, she’d always been beautiful in his eyes but right now she looked absolutely radiant. He almost forgot that he was supposed to respond.

“Uh-ahh-yeah! Of course. I guess I was just worrying over nothing.” He felt like a regular scrub. He’d just shown up in his usual casual garb. He hadn’t even done much with his hair or anything. He wore a tight fitting white t-shirt with a black button-up over top of it, a pair of black jeans hugging his lower half.

she’d never been the sort for real dates, casual or otherwise. maybe she’d overreacted, maybe she’d spent too much time in her sister’s absence fighting off a jealous kamui and stressing over just what would be appropriate to wear when going out for the first time with your ex. ex? she didn’t know. the thought of the time she’d spent struggling brought a slight flush to her cheeks, and suddenly, even considering who she was, she felt very exposed.

ryuko curled a lock of hair over her left pointer finger, held it taught, then let it go.

“Y’know. He hasn’t.” He didn’t know who Misogi was. “But I seriously don’t wanna be part of a thing called Loser Squad. It’s got ‘Loser’ right in the name!”

“Oh right. Everyone should check out the sweet ‘Don’t Taze Me, Bro [Spidey Mix]’ music video I made after yesterday’s events. Y’know. Where Spider-Man got tazed into submission.”

Honestly, he was feeling a bit nervous about all of this. He knew they’d set a certain time to meet but he’d gotten here… a little too early. The scent of flowers hung heavy in the air and music drifted in from it as well. The sound of a crowd and his eyes darting around looking for a head of black hair with that single red streak. With a sigh, he leaned his head back before he felt something nudge him in the back, turning around slowly, he raised a brow to regard the girl.

“And here I thought you might not show.”

she stood rather lazily, long hair tied to the bottom of her head in a messy bun, weight shifted to one hip. she looked grown, almost aloof. but she was. she’d left sen behind, soaking in a nice bath of hot water and fabric softener, and donned a skintight black dress, with a mesh cutout dipping down to the small of her back.

no less herself, but more feminine than she’d ever been.

she tucked that characteristic lock of red behind her right ear, and offered him a soft, flat smile.

He kept his back to her. He didn’t want to lose her and he sure as hell didn’t want to just walk away. Ichigo’s brow furrowed as he let out a light sigh, bringing a hand up to run his fingers back through his hair slowly. Canting his head to one side, the orange haired teen closed his eyes for a moment. This was just going to go around in circles if he didn’t man up and… do something.

He didn’t realize all that she’d been willing to give him. Sure, a lot of couples seemed to do such things at a rather fast pace but…they hadn’t really been like that. Despite how they’d come to be together in the first place.

“Alright… There’s no tellin’ when either of us are gonna have to go. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try again. I’ll do whatever it takes and wait as long as I need to. There’s a flower festival coming up soon, right? Maybe we should… go to that together when it comes around? I’m gonna try to be around as much as possible. I’ll smother you into my chest and not let go if I have to.”

she almost wanted to reach out for him, but she stopped, a soft smile on her lips. a step forward, a step towards moving on, taking it slow ... well, they never really were the sort to do that. but still. it was a step in the right direction, and that’s really all she’d wanted.

she really hoped she could open herself up to him again.
