Some of my Glade Headcanons for Gally
He was the fourth to arrive in the Glade, after Alby, Newt, and Minho.
He wasnât elected to be the Keeper of the Builders, he was one from the beginning. He was the first builder.
Heâs the one who taught Chuck how to carve little wooden figures.
The only other person who knows his secret drink recipe is Frypan, because he helps him make it (Fry would never tell a soul of course, because heâs such a good friend)
He has terrible nightmares, but he would never tell anyone about it, not only because he doesnât want to appear weak, but also because all he wants is to forget about them as soon as he opens his eyes. Even if they are bound to return the next night.
He takes a great amount of boyish pride in being the practically unbeaten champion of the circle.
The only ones who actually stand a fighting chance against him are Alby and Minho.
He doesnât love being stuck in the Glade, but he does love what heâs built. Itâs the only home heâs ever known, the only family heâs ever had (or remembers having anyway), and he does enjoy the peaceful aspects of it.
He is probably the most strict Keeper of all, but he is fair. He doesnât go around yelling at his builders for no reason.
Gally takes his job very seriously and he canât have some shank making a stupid mistake that might result in a roof collapsing on someoneâs head.
Heâs a perfectionist when it comes to building, so if something seems even slightly wobbly or not structurally sound, he will continue working on it until heâs 100% happy with it.
He is all about safety and making sure people get hurt as little as possible, so he gets visibly angry whenever he sees someone messing around with tools. Those arenât toys. You either use them properly or put them them the hell down.
Every time one of his builders gets hurt, heâs more than willing to take on his workload himself instead of dumping it onto someone else. Heâs the Keeper. He feels itâs his responsibility.
Gally always has and always will care about his friends way more than he lets on. As the resident âtough guyâ of the glade, heâs not big on showing it, but that doesnât mean itâs not there.
He definitely has many variations of bro-shakes for the guys. Some are too complicated for anyone to memorise.
Him and Alby share the same understanding of what makes a community work and what can cause it grave damage, so the mutual respect and trust is very strong there.
Gallyâs hut is an artistic mess. Clothes just laying around all bunched up, papers, stray pencils, tools, and what have you.
But it never stinks in there. Oh no. He canât stand it when something smells bad, it almost makes him physically nauseous.
He showers daily. Sometimes twice a day, because his work causes him to sweat so much, especially when itâs a little too hot under the sun.
He actually has a great sense of humour. You wonât find him constantly cracking jokes, but when he does, itâs always good, whether itâs a genuine joke or an offhand comment.
Gally is one of the best people in the glade. Period.
