Charlie Cox in Daredevil: Born Again - S02E08
okayokayokay HEAR ME OUT-
Now that we know matt's in jail (literally everybody already knew that but still) and he'll still be in there for s3...Ā
Let me paint you a picture (i'm holding your hand as we skip blindly through a field of tulips) - brand new day. matt is in that one jail scene that was in the trailer. He has his cameo, kicks some ass in some hallways, all that jazz, and then he has the chance to escape - but he GOES BACK TO HIS CELL VOLUNTARILY. And then we start s3 with more suffering and can have the whole devil in cell block d plotline and foggy defending him WHO SAID THAT - I feel like this makes so much sense but I may also just be delusional... do you see the angst and/or more-of-that-fuckass-smirk potential though
I SEE YOU ANON, I SEE THE VISION, I AM SKIPPING WITH YOU, I AM ROLLING IN THIS FIELD WITH YOU
Because this is my suspicion too. I think we are going to get a cameo from Matt in Spider-Man, like WHAT OTHER REASON WOULD WE HAVE THE HAND AND PETER IN THAT PRISON SHOT WHEN MATT IS IN PRISON?!
And I think it's just as likely that YES! He'd go back voluntarily! He's going to either 'serve his sentence' as the law demands (until someone can get him out legally - FOGGY MY DARLING I WILL NEVER BELIEVE IT WON'T BE YOU), or because someone's got some blackmail over his head and they need to figure out who it is before he can be free. Like I know someone has framed this man for at least some of those crimes (I've run over the 'attempted murders' and there's no way they're getting him on the three times he tried, so someone's framing him).
But oh, oh the angst potential yesssssss for the prison period, that smirk had me flying. I cannot fucking wait for our Cell Block D arc in S3, and I will be there with bells on on opening night for Spider-Man to see if our man makes his appearance as we suspect
This is a very interesting canon. But judging from Charlieās reactions in multiple interviews, I honestly believe heās telling the truth.
Because our poor man doesnāt even know himself!!!
I think itās more likely they filmed Matt just doing his own thing in prison during season 2 (interrogating someone, meditating, brooding dramatically in a cornerā¦) and then later stitched it into Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
So while Peterās out there fighting the Hand, he suddenly looks over and goes:
āWaitā¦hey! Thatās Daredevil! He used to be my lawyer! and heās actually REALLY good!ā
I really, really, REALLY need an interview with Charlie and Tom sitting side by side ššøļø
Charlie genuinely not knowing anything while Tom keeps insisting āno I donāt know what you are talking aboutā but leaking the entire plot through his facial expressions alone.
Charlie āthe Hand PTSDā Cox š
They are now, Foggy.

DD:BA Season 2 Review
Ok. Now itās time to review the whole season 2.
The trailer was thrilling. The first three episodes were extremely slow. Episode 4 gave me false hope that things were finally picking up⦠only for the next three episodes to feel painfully fragmented. And thenāboom. a phenomenal ending.
At this moment I feel like a proud mom holding her newborn baby, almost forgetting the pain of labor š
So here we go. Letās face the pain.
1. the main issue: the narrative focus
Yes, the finale somehow saves the story and makes it feel more complete. But letās be honest - the number one issue of this season is that the main narrative isnāt about Daredevil. Itās about Fisk.
We follow his schemes, his obsession with power and control, his love and loyalty to Vanessa, his inner conflicts⦠and to be fair, Marvel excels at portraying complex villains. Kingpin is layered, compelling, almost sympathetic at times. That part is a success.
But the problem is: everyone else ends up serving his story.
Vanessa as the lover, Matt as the enemy, Buck, Daniel, Wesley (in flashbacks), Heather, Powell as extensions of his system, Charles as the moral greyā¦
It works - if this were a Fisk-centered show.
But for Daredevil? Matt often feels reactive rather than driving his own narrative. Heās responding to situations instead of shaping them.
And while Fiskās side gets extensive development (Vanessaās fear and ambitions, Heatherās descent into Muse, Buckās loyalty and back story, Danielās moral conflictā¦) Mattās side is barely explored.
His relationship with Karen after their reunion?
Kristenās reaction to Mattās return?
Mattās grief over Foggy?
Almost nothing. Simply because thereās no time left for him.
2. editing
I canāt stress this issue enough.
some level of multi-thread storytelling is great, when it serves comparison or thematic reflection. But here, itās overdone to the point of distraction. It breaks immersion and weakens the narrative flow.
At times it genuinely feels like the editing is trying to mimic short-form pacing (TikTok or reels) instead of building a cohesive 45-minute episode.
3. dialogue
I donāt deny there are strong lines:
āyouāre a fool. No Iām not. I am Daredevil.ā
āarrest me, you cannot; kill me, you will not.ā
And Mattās court scene in episode 8 is genuinely powerful.
But overall, the writing doesnāt feel as sharp or grounded as the original series. The consistency just isnāt there. I expected more quiet, character-driven moments, and didnāt get enough of them.
4. final note
I love Matt. I love Daredevil. I want to see him on screen for as long as possible.
But letās also be real: Charlie isnāt getting younger.
So please, please donāt waste his talent, his presence, and everything he brings to this character.
Make season 3 peak again ššš
p.s. after watching all 5 seasons (55 episodes) of Daredevil and Born Again, I can confidently say my favorites are still S1E2 Cut Man and S3E13 A New Napkin.
Sorry, Born Again. Letās try again.
With my very questionable editing skills, I stitched together the show + trailer to recreate the full sequence:
Matt getting shot ā praying in the church ā Jessica showing up ā Jessica patching him up
The whumppest moment of the season š©ø
Enjoy!
DDBA Season 2 Finale Review
First of all - WOW š¤©
After feeling really disappointed by the previous episodes and honestly almost losing faith in the show, they delivered this: a phenomenal peak, an absolutely epic ending.
But I have very mixed feelings. Itās like: oh, so you can tell an incredible story⦠then what happened in the majority of the season? Why this inconsistency?
Anywayā¦
1. Pacing
The pacing in this episode is gold. Iām genuinely surprised they managed to wrap up all the loose ends without it feeling rushed or incomplete.
2. Editing
Clean, focused, and for the first time, the story actually flows like a story. We follow the main narrative instead of constantly jumping between fragmented character threads.
3. The metaphor of āTHE MASKā š¹
I kind of wish the court clip hadnāt leaked beforehand, because it really took away from the anticipation. It already hinted so strongly that Matt might reveal his identity in public!
But even so, when Matt said āI am Daredevilā, I literally jumped off the couch. I could feel my blood boiling.
People compare this moment to āI am Iron Manā. For me this hits even harder. Tonyās reveal fits his personality: bold yes, but expected eventually.
Mattās situation is different. In this show, secret identity isnāt just a mask or protection. Itās control. It regulates his inner conflict, his rage, his place in society.
As Matt the lawyer, he operates within the system, constrained by law and morality. As Daredevil, that restraint collapses into violence and instinct. Exposing that identity doesnāt just blur the boundary between human and devil, it also destabilised everything around him.
It also ties directly into Fiskās narrative: controlling vigilantes, suppressing unrest, consolidating power. It echoes how real systems respond to masked resistance and rebellion.
This is why Matt needing to understand and assert who he is becomes so critical at this point.
I know some people criticize Matt for not killing Fisk, but that restraint is exactly the point. In many ways, Fisk represents a distorted mirror of Matt - they both trying to āfixā the city, just through opposite philosophies. Foggy saw this clearly from the very beginning (S1E10).
The confrontation scene, and Matt offering a truce, strongly echoes the original seriesā āyou donāt get to destroy who I amā moment. In both cases, Matt removes his mask, suggesting that his humanity ultimately overpowers the devil.
Whatās especially powerful is how the show expands that idea:
Some characters, like BB, remove their masks to face truth. Heather, on the other hand, chooses to put one on and reflect herself through it. Others fight behind masks and die in them.
The metaphor of āthe maskā is pushed to its peak here, and it genuinely gives chills. Masterpiece!ššš
4. Performance & Visuals
Matt looks incredibly hot in this episode. Even injured, sweaty, exhausted, arrested⦠the charm is unreal š„µ
Though I do wonder if the makeup & hair team changed at some point⦠those wigs might haunt me foreverā¦
Charlie and Vincentās performances are the two pillars of this show, even at its lowest points. Deborah, however, after feeling almost invisible for much of the season, absolutely shines like a diamond in this episode, especially in the court scene. Her micro-expressions alone deserve an award! š„
5. Where is Claire?
Jessica stitching Matt up was rough, brutal, and almost intentional. Like sheās secretly enjoying it (we get you)
But⦠where the hell is Claire?
And Luke shows up at the end, but I didnāt really feel chemistry with Jessica there. Again, are we just not going to address when or how Luke and Claire broke up? Especially since she was already mentioned/hinted at earlier on after Matt pulled himself up from the Hudson River.
6. Post-credits
I expected a post-credit scene teasing Valentina recruiting Bullseye⦠but nothing. Maybe later, weāll see.
7. Final note
And lastly: the trailer for this show is so misleading.
Give us the deleted scenes back!
Jessica stitching Matt up clip
I have such a soft spot for injured Matt being taken care of (even when itās a little rough)
Does anyone know what Jessica injected into him? painkiller? adrenaline?? antibiotics???
Sir?? Looking this hot while getting arrested?? They are locking him up for the crime of being too sexy š
šš»the truth
For someone whoās severely injured on the leg, he looks extremely hot in this episode š„µ
Itās illegal sirā¦

OMG!!!
Iāll write a full review once Iāve properly digested it, but episode 8 is EPIC.
Not flawless, but epic.
I got chills. this is the right rhythm, the right dialogue, the right interactions. This is my Daredevilš©øā¤ļø
Iām looking for that image where Matt is sitting on a chair facing Jessica, with his injured leg exposed.
I canāt find it anywhere š¤Ø
