Emily observed Luke as he talked. He seemed so much taller than last year and his eyes appeared so much bluer. It actually took quite a lot to not get lost in them.
“Uh yeah, I’m still gonna be in the band. But apparently Tobi left. I don’t mind too much, though. He was always complaining about minor things”, she said with a shrug.
The young witch quickly took a look at her clock and noticed that she would have to walk a little faster, to reach the next class punctually. “I really need to get going. I have Potions .What class do you have now?”, she asked. It was a tricky one. Emily actually hoped that Luke would have Potions class as well, but also not. Her father was not Hogwarts most liked teacher… in fact, he wasn’t even close to receive that title. But none of the students, besides her friends of course, had an idea that the potions master was the father of the young Gryffindor student. Therefore most of them spoke rather ill of him, which Emily of course hated.
The summer had changed Luke a little. He was wearing his hair a little longer, which was unusual because it seemed like everyone made sure to wear their hair short this year. With a smile , he looked at Emily and felt relieved to hear she was still staying in the band. “That’s great to her, actually. We can’t lose a good guitarist.” he spoke, his smile slowly turning into a grin. “He was, right?” Luke said, letting out a small chuckle at the end as he thought about their former mate bandmate. “And I think we can do it without him. He was not neccessary for the band.” he stated then.
Luke noticed how she started to pace up a little, making sure to keep up with her. He noticed how she had taken a look at her watch, and they were surely running late. “Potions.” he spoke, giving out a grin as he continued walking beside her. “I’m curious to see how Snape’s mood will be. I’ve heard terrible things fromother students.” he spoke, only trying to make a small joke.
As soon as Luke spoke about her father, Emily remained silent for a moment. Even after all this time, she had jet to learn how to deal with these kind of situations.
She frowned for a moment, but decided against her intuition to come to his defence.
“Yeah me too”, she mumbled.
As soon as they walked downstairs along the gloomy corridor, a cold breeze hit them. Emily was quite glad that she was sorted into Gryffindor, rather than Slytherin. Of course she had to walk a fair bit until she reached her common room, but at least the temperature was bearable.
The young witch offered Luke a smile before she opened the door to the potions classroom. Most of the seats had been taken already. Except for the front seat on the left side of the room. Of course no one wanted to sit that close to the teachers table. Especially if said teacher was Severus Snape.
“Bloody hell”, she mumbled rather annoyed. “Do you wanna sit with me ?”, she asked the boy beside her.
