You’re still going to jump when someone slams a door. You’re still gonna have nightmares. The trauma is not just a horrible event or experience. It’s a life sentence. It’s a burden that cannot be shed.”

“What, you don’t like it? I figured it got the point across better than getting all screechy and red in the face.” Sammy rolls her eyes. “Look, do you want some help on getting through your to-do list faster? I’ve got nothing else going on anyways.”

“Hey, just because we have a royal executioner doesn’t mean we don’t do it, just means we’re royalty and don’t need bloodstains on our clothes.” They mostly wear red anyways, but moot point.

“It’s not her body I’m worried about, that can be fended off easier than a soul. If the day comes that a body becomes the issue, well… heads will roll.”

Sammy rolls her eyes slightly. “Do you handle whimpering, imbecilic minions or are you one yourself?”

“Not just my mother’s, it’s been said for as far back in recorded history as we can go in Wonderland by every Queen we’ve known. It’s traditional at this point. Y’know, I’ve considered changing it off and on once I become Queen, but my mother would return from her grave and haunt me till the end of my days.”

Sammy rolls her eyes slightly. “Do you handle whimpering, imbecilic minions or are you one yourself?”
