sea bell.

‘  good  morn’  lia , ’     kaiera  called ,  toes  dipping  into  the  warm  pink  sea  of  adephior ,  the  beach  just  off  the  edge   of  the  castle ,  located  quite  centrally  in  nostrea’s  capital ,  marmora .    slowly ,  the  prince  divests  themselves  of  their  clothing ,  slipping  into  the  tranquil  waters ,  paddling  about  until  their  dearest  orelias  poked  up  from  the  depths.  ‘ i  do  hope  you  had  a  good  night’s  rest ! ’

they sit perched on a large rock , the furthest from  the  shore ,   &&    contemplate  the  dark  waters  beneath.  in  their  hand,  a  trinket  they  had  made ,  from  luxite   &&  a  nostrean  moon  diamond.  the  necklace  was  for lia –  friend , long  lost ,  found  again.  

they  try  to  imagine  a  time  where  they  were  both  carefree ,  unbothered ,  happy.  but  this  world ..   it  was  diseased.  the  pale  blue  waters  were  almost  black  with  pollution.     it  was  no  home  for  orelias ,    at  least ,    not  one  kaiera  wanted  for  them.     they  feel  the  water  shift,  know  that  beloved  lia  was  finding  his  way  to  the  surface ,     if  only  to  speak  with  them.  nostrea  was  actively  trying  to  return  the  planet  to  its  past  state ,    but  things  were  always  complicated  when  it  came  to  politics.   glancing  to  the  side ,  kaiera  could  see  the  iron  city  that  churned    &&    croaked ,      pouring  poison  into  the  seas  bellow.   ‘ come away  with  me,  lia.’  kaiera  murmurs ,  looking  distantly  still.  ‘ come  to  my  home ,  bring  your  family .. leave  this  putrid  place.’

he   breeches   with   excitement   ,      with   a   flurry   of   clips   ,      chirps   and   squeals   that   he’s   sure   kaiera   is   used   to   by   now   .      but   the   usually   pristine   water   that   rolls   off   his   scales   leaves   behind   a   black   and   green   that   makes   his   skin   itch   .      and   he   hates   it   with   just   about   every   fiber   of   his   being   ,      he   really   does   ,      as   he   feels   it   roll   away   with   his   stumbling   over  slick   rocks   .      never   good   on   his   feet   ,      walks   like   a   new   born   foal   but   his   desire   to   be   near   kaiera   over   rules   any   impulse   control  that   tries   to   surface   in   his   mind   .      and   with   two   great   leaps   ,      he’s   plopped   himself   down   next   to   the   other   ;      but   that   smile   falls   slowly   when   they   speak   .  

it’s a rare occurrence ,      that   he   finds   himself   not   alone   in   the   shallow   swells   of   the   early   morning   waves   .      though   he   fears   he   may   have   frightened   his   new   companion   in   his   ,      admittedly   ,   rather   loud   excitement   .     had   gone   up   with   a   symphony   of   happy   squeaks   and   clicks   ;      though   more   subdued   now   in   the   face   of   her   wide   eyes   .      offers   a   meek   smile   and   a   hand   wave   to   substitute   as   his   hello   . 

he   ran   on   instinct   ,      impulse   not   something   sea   bells   were   known   for   .      his   attention   drawn   from   the   ocean   depths   something   shiny   ,      and   though   he   did   not   know   what   it   was   ,      be   knew   he   wanted   it   .      wanted   to   see   it   .      and   thus   in   a   fast   movements   he’s   lunging   out   of   the   water   ,      webbed   hands   latching   on   ,      and   yanking   his   prize   back   down   with   him      ---      uncaring   for   who   or   what   he   took   back   into   the   water   with   him   .     

he   ties   the   dingy   off   ,      so   it   doesn’t  go   floating   away   with   their   guest   in   a   sudden   current   shift   .      his   cave   is   dark   and   damp   ,      but   much   safer   than   the   churning   waves   outside   in   the   wake   of   a   brewing   storm   .      he’d   made   the   decision   to   wait   it   out   in   his   hideaway   ,      lest   he   lose   the   small   boat   to   the   water   and   cloudy   skies   .      their   small   planet   did   not   used   to   get   this   many   visitors      ---      intergalactic   crisis   does   manifest   some   strange   occurrences   ,      he   supposes   .      pulls   himself   out   of   the   water   and   onto   the   dry   patch   of   rock   at   the   end   of   the   cave   with   a   practiced   grace   ,      and   a   meek   smile   to   their   visitor   he’d   provided   the   shelter   for   .           ❛      the   storm   will   um      ...      over   soon   .      it   will   be   over   soon   and   then   i   will   take   us   to   my   home   .      do   not   want   to   uh      ---      too   strong   for   no   fins   right   now   .      ❜
