âŚ.Well this was certainly a new one
Derek honestly wasnât sure what to do with this, he had been in the younger womanâs position a few times himself- being muscular and male and having a âresting bitch faceâ meant he was often mistaken for causing trouble when he was minding his own business, but he didnât really know how to respond to the situation in any caseâŚâŚ
âMaâam, it doesnât look like youâre being restrained or in immediate physical danger, is there a reason you canât simply leave?â he offered, deciding to let his nursing training kick in- placate, ask rather than demand, donât judge the situation if thereâs any chance of a simple and actionless outcomeâŚ.
Though he did offer the younger woman an apologetic look, hoping she wouldnât take offense to being ignored
  * THE OLD LADY was fuming. Though the man that had come to address her was attractive (she had eyes, after all) he wasnât being helpful. âWhy should I leave! Why canât she leave!â She had turned red in the face, a stark contrast to her white hair. âI have rights, you know!â She pulled her arms up, and started swinging her purse wildly in the air - processing no care for who it may it, if it did hit anyone.
Caitlyn, for her part, shielded her face from the wild purse swings. âI think we should go!â She yelled at the man. âI donât think sheâs going to stop!â She paused, though, frown on her face. âUnless you think thereâs something you can do?â Beyond them, the purse continued to swing.
Oh shit, Derek really hadnât expected that reaction
Ducking to avoid the purse, he instinctively backed up to defend the innocent woman from the assault, hands up just in case he needed to swat the purse away
âWell, we could call the cops, but I donât think having an old lady arrested would be great PR, and Iâm pretty sure defending ourselves from her would just get us arrested, so... running sounds like the best idea,â
Derek hated to turn tail as much as anyone, but he was mature enough to know when a situation called for it, and this one certainly did
He turned quickly, ushering the young woman to go first, before hurrying away from the assailant
Thank God he wasnât still in New York, if his sisters ever found out about this, heâd never live it down....
