- Rory, turning off the gravity is against the rules! - Anhel exclaimed, his voice filled with pure, admiring astonishment.
He was met by dark green eyes, brimming with mischievous triumph.
- Sometimes rules are meant to be broken, - Rory spoke right into his ear, and Anhy felt a shiver run down his spine.
The gunner and the engineer floated out of the bar into the rig's central compartment, and the yough held his breath in awe. They were suspended in the very center of a vast dome, beyond which stretched the abyss of space and the enormous, sandy orb of Hoxxes. It was both a hell and the most beautiful sight in the universe.
- Didn't expect this from you, - whispered Anhel, pressing closer to the man, feeling laughter bubble up from his chest.
- You must have known you could shut the gravity off? - Rory asked with gentle reproach, and Anhy felt himself blush.
- Of course I knew… - he buried his nose in gunner's shoulder, hiding a smile. - I tried not to tell Liam about it, or he'd definitely have turned it off, but he found out from someone else anyway… - The blond looked at him with tenderness and playful accusation. - I'd expect something like this from him, but never from you, hahaha!
And then Rory smiled. A real, wide, open smile. It was so rare and so beautiful that Anhy felt like he could cry.
At that moment, a song started playing from the bar's speakers - "I Really Want to Stay At Your House." And they hovered there in zero gravity, face to face, against the backdrop of eternity.
"Rules," Rory thought with inner triumph. "Since you came along, all the rules have been rewritten."
Anhel was his light in the cold, indifferent darkness of space.
Holding him in zero gravity, the gunner knew he was no longer that lonely soldier in the dark corner of the mess hall. He was the guardian of this light. And he was willing to break every rule in the universe to keep it from ever going out.
