Hi! I'm working on my original universe – HAIKON, a bit about it:
HAIKON – a psychological dystopia/drama set in a "modernity without the modern" (an alternate 21st century without progress, styled after the turn of the 19th–20th centuries), exploring themes of existentialism, cruelty, survival, and overcoming internal obstacles rather than external ones.
This is the story of two sixteen-year-old outcasts walking through a crumbling world without knowing why. Along the way, they learn to trust, protect, and love in silence.
Main characters:
Trevor (16 y.o) – the only character with horns and a tail, who survived a Clefting in Still-Ford and lived with the Trinity from ages 9 to 16 – a group of old friends who used him as a tool. Trevor himself is calm and independent, speaking in riddles or short phrases. In battle, he is relaxed, almost bored. He doesn't seek connection, but once he decides to protect someone, he sees it through to the end.
Kiona (16 y.o) – an exile from the North and daughter of diplomats killed by a councilor. She fled south with her younger brother and lived in exile for two years, working day labor. In April of her second year in exile, her younger brother disappears. Kiona is deliberately kind but guarded with strangers. She is calculating and a good listener.
The Darkness – a manifestation of the world's collective psychological trauma (a metaphor for depression and PTSD). It emerges from despair and violence and leads to Cleftings.
The world is divided into the cold and bureaucratic Northern Republic and the free association of cities and villages without a central government – the Southern Union.
