Living with Asahi was always an adventure. When he graduated high school and moved onto university that’s when you two met. In freshman English class when he was timidly stressing over the paper you had to work on together as a pair. The assignment teaching you both how to communicate properly and effectively launched your relationship together.

Watching Asahi come out of his shell had always been something you never thought you’d get to see, and when you did you started to notice how incredibly playful he could be. It started small, you’d see him in a common room softly swaying to the music in his headphones as he took notes and scribbled away at his book in the margins. You found it adorable that he would lose himself in something so common as music when in other aspects he wouldn’t dare be so carefree.

You’d always slide up beside him and giggle “little dance break azu?” and he’d pink up in the cheeks and shake his head “i don’t know what you mean y/n”

Shortly after freshman year ended you two decided to move in together, but getting asahi to ask you was sort of like pulling teeth. Anytime you thought today was the day, he’d ask you something else about classes. It quickly started to get on your nerves and you finally just blurred out “are you gonna ask me to move in or dance around the subject til we’re seniors?” you sipped your coffee and raised a brow at him expectantly, only because you knew that no one on campus was closer than you two were and it just made sense to live with asahi.

“W-well i didn’t know of thats what you wanted or not?” he fumbled with a sugar packet as his ears turned a soft shade of red, the embarrassment at being called out clear in the wrinkles on his forehead. “Well duh, it’s not like i can live with anyone else” you then swiped the sugar packet from his hand and threw it square at his forehead. Falling into a fit of giggles as he tried and failed to catch it as it fell.

So the two of you moved in together, a relatively small apartment with two bedrooms, a kitchen, and living room and separate bathrooms. It was perfect for the both of you.

And on days like today where you walked in beat tired after a shift at the local diner, asahi azumane was playing music in spanish, shaking his hips as he cooked meat for homemade burritos, did you realize how lucky you were to be friends with him.

“Y/n! welcome home” the man bun clad man turned around with a smile and heat pink cheeks, immediately swooping you up into his arms and spinning you around the island. “I see the dance lessons are going well azu” you giggled and went along with him. Swaying animatedly and watching his feet to see where he would go. This was somehow normal for you two, it was discovered rather quickly that both of you loved dancing, so it was often that you found yourself dancing around the house with asahi. “I dance best with my favorite partner, you should come back, ms.futacachi misses you” he spoke over both the music and the sizzle of the meat when the song changed.

The tempo was slow, calming and almost romantic as the words started to filter into the air. Asahi easily slowed you both and pulled you in close to his chest. the warmth from both his body and the stove bringing you to a peace you hadn’t felt since you’d left this morning with your coffee and a good luck from your roommate. “did you have a good day?” he asked, barely above a whisper as he swayed you both back and forth, his hand settled at the middle of your back, the other stirring the meat so it wouldn’t burn.

“yeah, i got my tips, i’ll put them in our stash jar” you said softly, your cheek fitting comfortably in his neck like it always did. This was your comfort zone, Asahi had always been that for you. “Sounds good to me, we’re so close to getting the tv, after i get paid from coaching the primary school team we should be set” asahi’s voice was soothing, the vibrations in his chest making it hard to want to move. But the song ended and he pulled away to finish off the meat and put it on a plate to be served.

“Thank you for cooking” you said with a smile, now entirely relaxed. Walking over to the fridge to pull out a water. “Thank you for dancing with me” he said back, equally as relaxed, moving passed you, kissing the crown of your head as he went toward the counter. After that you both had your dinner, talking softly about your days, and customers you’d had while at work. He told you about his paper he’d finished and the bird that seemed hellbent on getting into his room. Laughter filled the apartment until late in the evening, when you’d both walked sluggishly toward your bedrooms. A soft bid of good nights and sweet dreams followed you to the bathroom to take off your makeup and strip your dirty clothes.
