헤어지다 – to break up

갈아입다 – to change (clothes)

거짓말하다 – to lie

기다리다 – to wait

나가다 – to leave

대답하다 – to answer

일어나다 – to get up

타다 – to ride

Present Tense:     casual – 타      low formal – 타요       high formal – 탑니다 Past Tense:      casual – 탔어     low formal – 탔어요      high formal – 탔습니다 Future Tense:      casual – 탈 거야 // 타겠어      low formal – 탈 거예요 // 타겠어요      high formal – 탈 겁니다 // 타겠습니다

Example Sentences:     1. casual: 하루 동안 걷거나 자전거를 타 – they walk or ride a bicycle for a day    2. low formal: 9살 때 비행기를 탔어요 – when I was 9, I rode a plane    3. high formal: 저는 오후 열차를 탈 겁니다 // 타겠습니다 – I will ride an afternoon train

Monotasking, also known as single-tasking, is the practice of dedicating oneself to a given task and minimizing potential interruptions until the task is completed or a significant period of time has elapsed.

a) eat breakfast without checking your phone or watching tv 🍳🧠

b) simply observe when you’re in the car, on the bus, train or plane. (or if you’re like me riding your bike 🚴🏻‍♀️)

c) watch a movie start to finish without distractions (seriously the best 😭❤️)

d) listen to an album all the way through

e) focus on the art of listening rather than talking

f) capture your To-do lists in a notebook rather than multi task

g) have a morning routine

h) divide your tasks into 20 minute intervals (send me asks if you wanna see my cleaning schedule!!)

j) detox from technology one day a week

k) check your emails / texts at a designated time of the day

하이 하이 나는 카이입니다. Today I wanted to share some casual Korean I learned just by messaging in the language! I hope you can learn something as well, albeit these are fairly simple. I added some vocab under a few phrases so it may help some people who want to build up their vocab.

If something is wrong, please don’t hesitate to correct me, as I’m still learning as well

잘 잤어요?- did you sleep well?

잘자요- Sleep well

굿 나잇- Good night

굿 모닝/좋은 아침이에요- Good morning

좋은 꿈 꿔요!- Sweet dreams

뭐할거에요- What are you going to do?

뭐하고 있어요?- What are you doing? 뭐- what 하다- to do 있어요- existing, having 하고 있어요- doing

뭐해요?- What’s up?

오늘 기분이 어때요?- What’s your mood today?/How are you feeling today? 오늘- today 기분- mood 어때요?- how is it?

요즘 어떻게 지내요?- How have you been doing recently?

지금- now

지금 학교에 있어요- I’m in school now 학교- school

학교에 가고 있어요- I’m going to school

오늘은 어땠어요?- How was today? 어땠어요 is 어때요 in the past tense, making it “how was it?”

유튜브 보고 있습니다- I’m watching YouTube

핸드폰하고 있어요- I’m on my phone

맞아요- Right, I agree

그래요?- Is that right?/Is that so?

답늦어서 미안해요- Sorry for the late reply.

계속 대화하길 원해요- I want to keep talking

졸려요?- Are you sleepy?

그렇구나- I suppose

오늘 뭐 하고 놀았어요?- What have you been doing today?

힘내요- cheer up, hang in there

부끄러워요- I’m embarrassed/ashamed

잘하네요- good job

1. reward yourself for working so hard. take a long bath with your favourite bath bomb, take time to cook your favourite meal, paint your nails. recognise that you worked hard and it was tough and that you deserve time for yourself

2. catch up on sleep. nothing makes studying harder than being exhausted. clear your schedule and have a lie in. even if you don’t sleep late, stay in bed and enjoy a guilt-free lazy morning

3. do something fun. invite your friends over for a movie night, take your dog for a walk. remind yourself that there is more to life than textbooks and notes

4. make a plan. start getting ready to get back into study mode. make a todo list, a study schedule, and a list of your deadlines

5. organise your space. declutter your desk so you have a clean space to be productive in. tidy desk, tidy mind
