Thats a new one
i don't really want to weight in on the "using big words in your writing is ableist" discourse happening on tiktok because i'm like 90% certain it's an anti-intellectual psyop to stir up drama in online circles to promote the use of ai to summarize literally everything and thus feeding the LLMs and lowering the populace's mistrust of such tools but i also have to say: dictionaries and thesauruses are the most accessible they've ever been. if you use an e-reader of any kind you can look up a word without leaving the page. there's a plethora of online dictionaries and if you just type a word + "meaning" into google it'll usually give you a definition. we used to have pocket dictionaries we used when reading in class. i have two on my shelf right now that i used in high school. stop letting the fascists purposefully misuse anti-ableism rhetoric to trick you into never thinking again.

💪🏻😏
really good text from my sister in law
Absolutely bonkers that I'm now one of those weirdos you hear about on Twitter
I committed to the bit so hard that I also committed misdemeanor impersonation of a government official
PBS and NPR were never beholden to the US government.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting was created so that the US government could fund public media without public media being influenced by the government. It was a private non-profit funded by the government, not a part of the government itself. This is by design. This was a good thing. It meant that even small local TV and radio stations, could afford to create media for the public good, without government influence.
This meant TV and radio stations for poor communities. For non-english speaking communities. For rural communities. For minorities. It meant that free and accessible media could be created for everyone, even if the government didn't like it.
That's why conservatives defunded it.
Because if they couldn't control it, and if it helped the people they hated, then they would have to destroy it. Do you really think that a fascist government would defund their own propaganda machine?
Not only is the idea that PBS before being defunded was propaganda wrong, but ignores the fact that defunding it is going to have long-term negative effects on vulnerable communities.
OP of the post in the screenshot called me an idiot and blocked me for pointing this out. So I'm setting the record straight. The CPB was never our enemy.

Hat of a shrimp with a shrimp hat that has a hat with a shrimp on it. If you put the singular red thread on the shrimp hat hat hat under a microscope you’d actually see it’s an endless loop of shrimp hat hat hats. Hat.
Buy my fucking shrimp hat boy.
I will always reblog this
Beautiful
This video made me cry the first time I saw it when I was a teenager because I didn‘t know if I would ever have those kinds of moments, but I just finished cooking dinner for my boyfriend of more than two years, whom I took home for Christmas to be warmly welcomed by my parents, whom I didn’t think would ever accept me. I wish I could tell 16 year old me about what my life would be 9 years later
Mass Effect 2: Suicide Mission performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra
reblogging again because reasons
a gentle reminder, once more, that this exists and will never be awful, ever, and this song has basically the most special place in my heart for any video score ever, tying with Leaving Earth, so thanks for that Bioware
why am I only hearing this now omg
Whenever I hear this, even now, I feel my little heart squeeze just a little, and my heart beat skip. And I swear dust always finds a way to get into the corner of my eye just when this song starts (thankfully no tears drop). This amazing score tied in with the momentum the entire game brings you to has placed the ME2’s Suicide Mission as my favorite, most heart wrenching “This is It” moments in video gaming for me. It all leads to this.
