Mates... Ben here has known me since before I was Gypsy’s age, as a grom in Narrabeen alongside his younger brother Charlie. His dad took me on a surf trip up the coast once, and I’m sure his mum fed me way more than I ever thanked her for, given her house was besides the beach where my surfing life began. Benno helped create award winning ad campaigns for surf brands I’ve been a part of, and so many more... gave me a place to live when I first moved to LA, and pointed me in the right direction countless times. Even directed the feature surf film Drift, and has always ripped whenever he’s had time to paddle out himself. When I started surfing in Australia it was obvious @alohasurfboards were some of the best being made, cause guys at my local beach like @damienhardman @warnersurfboards @chrisdavidson2970 @h2o_hog and heaps more, were winning everything from our @northnarrabeenboardriders comps to @wsl world titles on em. I remember getting to meet master craftsman Greg Clough and being so proud of the boards he made me as sponsored grom. Then years later, I became friends with Florida’s @shealopezshapes and traveled together on the #aspworldtour watching him compete at the highest level. Fast forward a couple decades, and I’m again using @alohasurfboards now designed by @shealopezshapes here in the USA. His models are being released soon at great surf shops around this country, as well as back in Oz and beyond.
