Although I have Giorno woobifying tendencies sometimes, I don’t know whether at his age and background, he would expect any reciprocation here, and go in for the hug. I suspend my disbelief here with his thought process being “maybe she does care a little I can’t believe it. I just experienced one of the most intense experiences of my life, I could use my mommy.”

I think people often downplay Bucciarati's feelings. I'll only talk about this once because everyone can have their own interpretation, and there's nothing wrong with having HCs, but I can't see a maternal relationship 😭😭😭 It makes me very sad because I'm a guy addicted to found family hcs , Bucciarati gave that whole speech to Giorno and honestly it makes me think he loves him. Ironically, I was watching a series (Bridgerton) and there's a scene where one of the characters, I don't know which season, gives a speech very similar to Bruno's to Giorno, and ARGHHH, and romantic??? It's not every day you tell your buddy that he brought you back to life, that he found happiness thanks to Giorno. This reminds me of Fugo's narration in PHF. Bucciarati was slowly dying and nobody noticed, but thanks to this boy who appeared one day in his life, it changed completely. Bucciarati is a good person, but he was a prisoner of a destiny he was forced to live since he was a 12-year-old boy. But Giorno was the key to his shackles, besides the hope he carried with him throughout this adventure. Giorno also developed in Bucciarati someone he could trust; after all, it was Bruno who made his plan happen, and Giorno probably never forgot Bruno. In an alternate universe where Bruno survives, he only manages to declare his feelings to Giorno after a few years... But Giorno would probably accept him, even if he doesn't love him. Seeking love without loving is something...

Ultimately, I don't care if their relationship is romantic or not; if they're together, that's what matters

For Giorno, I think he would write more elegantly, with some flourishes, but he’d also write quickly, and not have a super steady hand. He probably had neat handwriting as a child, and taught cursive in school. (this is back in 2001, less internet, so it was more emphasised, after all. You’d handwrite essays). We see that Giorno cares about a refined demeanor, and his insane fit, so if it were writing something important, he’d write a bit more deliberately, to match his elegance. But otherwise, he might write quickly and unconsciously with the flourishes to the point parts are illegible.

I feel Giorno is one of those people who rarely draw, but are just good at it. Maybe he’d doodle while bored in class, things he likes like critters and plants. 

For Bruno, I think his handwriting would be more choppy, no flourishes at all, but very legible and clear. He left school at like 12, he doesn’t care about fancy penmanship, it doesn’t matter if it’s pretty if it’s clear. He’d be writing things down for only practical reasons. 

Bruno doesn’t draw, not interested in it, and not his preferred form of leisure. But he’s probably had to do diagrams, again for practical reasons, so anything he’s drawn would be legible and serviceable. 

Doing this was HARD. Handwriting is so difficult to create from your head (I’m a pretty decent forger (𓁹‿ 𓁹) …if I have reference ). I had trouble doing what I’d imagined in my head, and not letting my own bleed through. I’m still not completely satisfied. Handwriting is such a personal thing that comes naturally, even more than art style. It has to look effortless. 

Giorno’s drawing was hard too. I wanted it to be good, but not like somebody who draws hours every day (like ME!) to the point it’s automatic and natural. I wanted it to seem like his skill was innate (UNLIKE me!) yet it’s clear he doesn’t do it a lot. 

I also wanted the style itself to seem like something Giorno would come up with. Also how Giorno sees Bruno. I turn off my brain and just draw as I always do, so I had to not lock in. I don’t use guidelines, but I put them for Giorno, because I think he’d use them. I restarted this twice. ALSO I had to make the digital look like pencil drawings cause these mfers did NOT have procreate in 2003. 

Bruno’s was a bit easier, I just tried to avoid having it look like a child’s drawing, but an adult who never draws. Like his lines wouldn’t be crazy sloppy.

After this, I imagine it's a very slow burn, Bruno realizes Giorno isn't just sexualizing her like the other men did, and he genuinely respects and likes her as a person. It develops slowly from a close friendship and partnership to romantic later on.

If Bruno was a woman, though I think her design wouldn’t change, external societal factors would certainly affect some aspects of her dynamic with Giorno, especially on his end.

To be clear, their actual actions and dynamic wouldn’t change, but the external societal implications of Bruno’s womanhood would be what puts a cloud of implications over what was the normal GW male Bruno and Giorno dynamic.

Giorno’s weird feelings around women would be very relevant. (I don’t consider him misogynistic in a modern alpha male incel sort of way. Besides cultural and time period factors, it's just a general unease/disinterest stemming from lack of attraction (demisexual) and Mother issues.)

Firstly, with canon Brugio, I think Giorno would recognize the unusual attachment and strong feelings, maybe during the canon timeline, maybe post-canon. But he may take some time to perceive it as romantic, both with him not having felt it before, and the fact Bruno is a man. 

However, with female Bruno, it is the expected thing, with her being a woman. Even prematurely, if his feelings aren’t even romantic, or romantic yet. Gio may think “I have strong feeling for a a woman for the first time. This must be romantic, so that’s what it’s like.” She’s the first woman Giorno even likes. 

Then he'll want to make her happy, maybee?? (just a thought, half baked) maybe not?? going through the generic motions of hetero courting (even if not expecting to date her), because he sees her as a girl now, and everything that surrounds that, even if irrelevant to their relationship. (not for long)

Or maybe he will always see Bruno as an ally first, and not go that direction, and their dynamic develops naturally?

Also… I have made it very clear I don’t see Bruno as a parental figure… but I think in a scenario where Bruno is female, it might be different. Not her actually being more maternal, but rather what Giorno’s subconscious ends up projecting onto her. 

He was neglected by his maternal figure, not directly abused (still abuse ik) but he may still crave that affection. Bruno believes in him, supports him, finds him important, and there is that intensity between them. Giorno would feel both attachment and possible attraction, but the fact Bruno is a female may get his wires crossed too, and expect more than Bruno gives, craving it subconsciously.

I think female Bruno would be even less receptive to any romantic advancements. Male Bruno would only be disbelieving of it, having a very low opinion of himself. But as a woman, she might have been dealing with men for nearly a decade, already on guard. She sees any attention as ulterior motives, and something to be wary of, lacking any actual feelings.

It may actually upset her, that Giorno, someone she adores a lot, seems to be no different, reducing her to that, when he had treated her like a person initially. (If you’ve ever had a guy friend come onto you, you knowwwww). She thought he was different, and now he’s no different than the other men. Even if he’s young, and it may be innocent infatuation, he is reducing her to a woman.
