Seeing that small smirk play on Buckyâs face made him brighten, honestly all had seen on the man were frowns and pressed lips but he felt himself start to smile until he mentioned his strengths and that smirk, however small it was disappeared and quickly rushed to make it right without realizing his mouth to brain filter was way off, âI meant that I kinda want to get you, Rogers and Point Break to do a lifting contest, preferably without shirts on. ya know for scienceâ
It was too late to stop himself and he groaned in embarrassment, âor the floor can swallow me up nowâ he mumbled and pushed aside whatever dark thoughts he had and solely focused on Bucky. Barnes didnât deserve to have his issues dump on him knowing he had enough shit to deal with and Tony wouldnât do that to the other.
He watched Bucky move to stand and he scrambled to sit up, leaning forward and reaching out to place a hand on his arm, stopping him from leaving. Tony had a small smile on his lips and he said in a light tone, âThank youâŚreally Bucky, For what itâs worthâŚIâm glad it was youâ there he finally stood and turned to head back to his lab. Before he turned the corner he stopped and glanced back at Bucky and disappeared.
âfor whatâs it worth iâm glad it was you?? what theâŚwhen did I get sappy?!â He mumbled in surprise and shook his head.
A lifting contest? With their shirts off? Bucky decided to NOT think too much about that because that wasnât a path he was ready to go down just yet. So, he pushed it aside as he kept moving to stand up.
Flinching slightly at the UNEXPECTED hand on his arm, Bucky snapped his head around to look over at the other man. He was tense, but froze, since that was CLEARLY Tonyâs objective. He wasnât really sure what to make of what the man said next. âUh... anytime?â he offered with a CONFUSED frown. Naturally, he assumed that it wouldnât be happening again.
He watched the other man leave, then went back to his room to finish meditating and actually sleep for a little while. He then went to the gym and hung out with the others for a bit. He told himself his noticing Tonyâs absence wasnât ANYTHING special. It was just an observation. Only that. Right?
It was THREE days before he let it finally get to him. Feeling a little stupid, he stood in the common living room, checking to be sure that he was truly alone, before talking to the damn CEILING, asking where Tony was. The voice responded that heâd been in his lab since theyâd parted ways a few days ago. Which just made Bucky frown. That was stupid. He shouldnât care. He DIDNâT care. But, he was still heading down to the other manâs lab, knowing that it was his private space and not caring.
Frowning slightly, he tried the door, a bit SURPRISED to find it unlocked and had a sneaking suspicion that maybe that little computer wired into the compound might have given him a little help on that one. Slipping into the lab, he cleared his through LOUDLY so Tony wouldnât get the shock of him appearing SILENTLY at his side since he had yet to break the habit of moving without making a sound. Stepping closer, he frowned slightly at he looked the other man over.
âYou canât stay down here FOREVER, you know... you need to eat. And sleep.â
