“Are you sure?” Talia asked before she slid a drink in front of her best friend, “We can at least try.”

“You are a godsend, Talia.” She sighed, taking a drink. “My need for this is practically medical today.”

“Be the most spoiled woman to exist?” He suggested curiously as he reached up brushing her hair back, “I will make sure you never question where my heart is.”

“I haven’t questioned it yet. And I have a feeling Talia and Jocelyn would kill you if I ever did.”

“Yeah toxic friends are never a good thing to keep around but when they’re a healthy friendship it can be the best thing.”

“I like to think of myself as a pretty good judge of character, so thankfully toxic friends don’t last for me. Then again, I hit the jackpot with Talia and never really looked back.”

“Fine then you’re not getting out of this ever, you’re officially stuck with me,” Vincent teased as he pulled her to him,”

“Oh no,” Gwen laughed. “Whatever am I going to do.”

“It’s always helpful to have a friend like that.”

“At least when they’re good for you. I don’t know what I’d have done without her.”

“I want to make sure you’ve thought it all through before I take you completely off the market and never share with anyone again.”

“Do you really think I haven’t thought about it? And talked to Talia and my mom about it?”

“It’s okay to not always be optimistic though. As long as you’re not ruining your own life and that’s all that matters.”

“I’m pretty sure if I ever tried to ruin my life, Talia would swoop in and smack some sense into me. I’ve never had to worry about that.”

“Who said I wanted rid of you in the slightest, Gwen? I want to give you every out that I can until I lock you down.”

“Why are you so persistent on giving me an out? I don’t need one.”

“You could always change your mind if you wanted to.”

“You’re not getting rid of me that easy, Vince.”

“Only as long as you want to spend your life with me.”

“I think the ship on that changing has sailed by now, don’t you?”

“You deserve to be optimistic for yourself too. We all need it sometimes.”

“Yeah, I know that. It’s the whole self optimism thing that is hard for me sometimes.”

“It’s a terrifying thing but the alternative is not having you in my life which is somehow even more terrifying.”

“So...it is a good thing?”

“I mean that’s all your choice, baby girl,” He reminded her brushing her hair back out, “You’re changing everything. You’re more than just special, Gwen.”

Gwen laughed and shook her head. “I hope that’s a good thing.”

“If we don’t have downs how can we enjoy the highs right?”

“You might have a point there. Usually I have to be the optimist for my best friend, I guess I forget it’s possible to do it for me too.”

“I mean if you want to call me daddy that’s a different story though,” Vincent pointed out as he pulled her close to him, “of course you’re special though.”

“Oh, really?” Gwen laughed, looking up at him. “Duh, I know that, but it’s always nice to hear.”

“Are you happy? Because that’s what matters.”

“I am most days. But I guess it’s probably gonna be that way for everyone, right?”
