BASIC INFO: 

nari was born in busan, south korea to a korean-american mother, jamie kim, and a korean father, park ji-hoon. she was their second child, born two years and two months after her older brother, yunsik. 

her father was a successful businessman who often traveled from korea to the states and back again and her mother was a retired pop singer, as well as a successful model and singer/songwriter. after she retired, she opened a very popular café that she named after her kids. 

it came of no surprise to either of her parents that nari developed a love for all things artistic from an early age, particularly singing and writing fictional stories, as well as painting. they signed her up for vocal lessons when she was three, per her request, as well as dancing and piano lessons. to say that she was an overachiever at such a young age would have been an understatement. 

because both of her parents were fairly busy people, they were rarely around and a lot of nari and yunsik’s time were spent with their teachers and/or their nannies. she pretended not to be bothered by this because her parents tried to be there when they could, but it was difficult not to notice their lack of participation in her life. every dance recital, every award she was presented with, etc.-- their presence, or lack thereof, was particularly something that she focused on. 

as a result of not often getting affection from her parents, she attempted to fill that void by surrounding herself with loads of people, whether they were close to her or not. she didn’t even particularly care for most of the people she was friends with, she just liked having people worship the ground that she walked on, so to speak. she liked feeling important and wanted and hating nothing more than being alone. though she’d quickly learn that there was a difference between being alone and feeling lonely, because she never quite quit feeling the latter. 

she was fifteen, going on sixteen, when tragedy struck her family. her brother was killed in a hit & run accident on his way home from football ( soccer ) practice. her parents’ marriage fell apart quickly after and though they have remained married since, it is obvious that they aren’t happy together and would just be better off apart. 

following the unfortunate death of her brother, nari picked up smoking and she has been addicted ever since.

it was in her last year of high school that she decided that she wanted to study art history. she originally attended seoul national university, but decided that she needed a change of scenery and wanted to start over in the states, so she decided to apply for luxor university. her parents were quick to pay her tuition, as they never quit feeling guilty for being so distant with her after they had lost their son.

PERSONALITY: 

selfish, but not intentionally. it’s more so a defense mechanism than anything else. she’s very moody, and it’s difficult to tell which side of her anyone is going to get on any given day. loves to go out and have fun, more than a bit of a party girl these days. sarcastic af and can be rude as hell, though generally she will be nice unless someone disrespects her first. fiercely loyal, but never to a fault. screw her over once & you’ll never have her trust again. she’s hella distrusting, but incredibly trustworthy; will keep any and all secrets that you entrust her with. ( but again, stab her in the back and she won’t hesitate to stab you in the front. ) she has the tendency to be flaky, despite always trying to be the reliable one. she will hold most people at arm’s length. tends to come off arrogant. she knows that she looks good and she will tell you how good she looks even if it’s annoying. the prime example of tinny but fighty and will fight someone if they try to fight her first. she’s a firm believer in giving respect to get it. there’s more but my brain isn’t currently functioning. will add more later if i can think of anything.

she is HUGE on instagram, particularly for her art. mostly her paintings, but she also sketches and messes around w pottery though she doesn’t think she’s great at that

she is multi-lingual. obviously fluent in korean, as it is her first language ( she has an accent when she talks, but it has gotten less noticeable over time ). she’s also fluent in japanese, mandarin, and french and is in the process of learning italian.
